House Budget Committee Chair, Rep. Leslie Osborn, was removed from Speaker McCall's leadership team, today. It happened one day after she broke ranks with the speaker in her public statements about state agency funding. Here is McCall’s email to House members, in its entirety: "Members, I wanted you to be the first to know that I have replaced Rep. Osborn as Chair of the Appropriations and Budget Committee. Rep. Kevin Wallace is now Chair of the Appropriations and Budget Committee. I was greatly impressed with Kevin’s knowledge and capabilities of the budget process last session, and I appreciated his willingness to engage with all members of our Caucus. I believe he will serve our caucus and state well in his new role. As always, I welcome the opportunity to visit with you personally about this matter or any other issue of significance to you. Please call me any time if you have questions. Sincerely, Speaker Charles McCall" |
Osborn Gets Canned From Budget Chairmanship, But Gets Endorsed By Democrat, Drew Edmondson7/18/2017 In a time when 'conservatives' control all aspects of the budgeting process, And most homes have several dozen TV channels, plus internet access to millions more; there still remains an outdated mode of socialized broadcasting at the expense of the taxpayer. With a state govt. going deeper into long-term debt and facing yearly shortfalls approaching a billion dollars, there remains a question of why the legislature still insists on sending millions of dollars toward the notion that the people of Oklahoma won't have TV without state assistance? OETA somehow has escaped the chopping block by schmoozing lawmakers in the most influential leadership posts. But in the wake of the Tea Party Revolution of 2010, there was a call for ending the OETA's dependency on state funding. Here's one such call by Leslie Osborn.
