Senate Republicans have a problem on their hands. They entered this year with an unprecedented super-majority. But 4 of their 42 caucus members are politically discredited or voluntarily left public service.
Marlatt was recently awarded a 3rd & final senate term when he successfully challenged the legal qualifications of Joshua Setzer, a Democrat. Setzer's legal team mounted a 14th Amendment constitutional challenge of state campaign laws, citing that the state has no constitutional compelling interest is setting rules for membership in a political party. That election board vote was split on party lines.
