I'm done waiting for the legislators to sunset the existing constitution. Sadly, our contemporaries have generally been taught that we 'mere mortals' are not capable of creating such 'sacred' texts as a constitution. Too many have elevated the founders to deities. And too few public school teachers have successfully instructed the masses to the task.
But many of our law schools, barristers, and reasonable thinkers are fully capable of devising a constitution. especial one which simply streamlines an existing constitution without a great deal of change.
Our current constitution has about 160 amendments. yet for all that 'fixing' it's pathetically confusing and self-contradictory' leaving our discredited high court to make up laws as they go.
We need to make a contest of this issue. Remember how a benefactor stepped up to give a prize to the first pilot to fly across the Atlantic? It would be very helpful if a benefactor would come forward to sweeten the enticements. Perhaps a college scholarship to law school for whichever political science student has the winning text?
