The Oklahoma Republicans have failed... failed to protect their brand and their message. As a result, there are several progressive politicians able to masquerade as elephants while dumping donkey crap in the state capitol and other seats of power.
Last night the precinct chairmen of House District 76 held a forum for 5 Republican candidates seeking the party's nomination, next Tuesday. Dozens of voters attended, but only 2 candidates showed up. These were the same 2 who have historic ties to the party organization and legacies of advocacy for classic conservative values.
Shelley Brumbaugh & Cliff Johns both made great presentations, showed exemplary deportment, and promoted conservative party values. Oklahoma would be doing well if either of them received the nomination. Shelley overwhelmingly received the endorsement of the Tulsa Area Republican Assembly, last month.
But Brian Elliot scarcely even returned calls from Republican entities. Ross Ford attended one TARA event in June, but has only sent staffers to some GOP events since then.
Jess Guthrie even bad-mouths GOP volunteers and leaders; even proudly declaring how little he actually does with and for the OKGOP.
