Sooner Politics is looking for legislative efforts which restores freedom. If we see another core function of government cut so that a new 'Pops Museum' can be given to some cronies, we may need to show up in a real bad mood. We may 'go Wisconsin' on y'all before it's over. No one wants to see burnt effigies and mobs camping out at lawmaker's residences. So lets start out with a healthy respect for the principle of expanding freedom and trimming down the frivolous nonsense.
All of us Oklahomans see serious needs which government -at all levels- can and should do better. But we all see waste, stupidity, indifference, and sometimes government arrogance.
Will this legislature be the one which restores our confidence that freedom of Oklahomans is a priority to the 149 who assemble for the next 4 months?
Listen, Legislature... Don't tell us Oklahomans that you have a respect for our own constitution. You MANDATED to put forth a call for a Constitutional Convention every 20 years. You haven't done so since 1972. Until we see that question put to a vote of the people, we won't believe you're truly submissive to the constitution which you claim to be guardians of.
There are 4 bills put forth in this legislature which call for various proposed Oklahoma Constitutional Conventions. They have some differences in proposed formats. Nathan Dahm (SJR10), David Holt (SJR21), Kyle Loveless (SJR26), and Joe Newhouse(SJR31); are willing to pay more than lip-service to their own oaths of office. Read the proposed language of each resolution and DO YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY!
