Throughout August, thousands of Oklahomans will be discussing with their doctors about a new option in maintenance medications. On Saturday there will be heavy web traffic at the OMMA website, from hopeful and hurting patients. This is the week when ordinary citizens can present their medical credentials to the state and be licensed to treat medical conditions with medical marijuana products.
Interim Director Tom Bates says that the OMMA expects 78,000 patients to seek license status in the first year. Additionally, 2000 businesses will seek to meet the need for Cannabis products with a commercial license to research, grow, process or dispense the medicines.
