Rep. Lonnie Sims has a bill to exempt the Jenks aquarium from collecting sales taxes on admissions to their facility. Did we mention that Rep. Sims is the former mayor of Jenks? Did we mention that this aquarium is the city's top tourist destination? this is Mr. Sims' first session as a freshman member. He holds the seat that Glen Mulready once had. The rationale is that this institution is just as educational as a museum is (and museum admissions are tax exempt). What seems odd is that the bill doesn't also exempt zoos and botanical gardens? What are your thoughts? https://legiscan.com/OK/bill/HB1005/2019 |
