Sooner Politics is a free speech exercise

SoonerPolitics.org is a citizen journalism project. We believe that Freedom of the Press is not reserved just for professional media. It is the individual's right to publish and distribute his free speech.
Our journalists volunteer their efforts, but our web & media expenses add up. We believe some expenses are worth it and we believe you'll help us as you are able.
This resource is committed to informing & mobilizing conservative Oklahomans for civic reform.
A well-informed electorate is accomplished when we have excellence in our professional media, but sometimes we, the citizens, need to fill in the gaps they miss. And once in a while we need to set the record straight and get the job done when the professional media opposes the outcome. This endeavor seeks to utilize the efforts of all cooperative facets of the Conservative movement...
Please give as you can, so that our work can continue, uninterrupted. We don't ever want to charge a fee for this. Web and publishing fees total about $400 per year.

Thank you,
David Van Risseghem

Say, "Hi!", share a news tip, or at least give us some free advice...

David Van Risseghem  is the Director of Sooner Politics.org. The resource is committed to informing and mobilizing conservative Oklahomans for civic reform.  This endeavor seeks to utilize the collective efforts of all cooperative factions of the Conservative movement.
We utilize our constitutional rights as individuals, as media outlets, and as a faith exercise.

We get involved in local, state, national and global issues. This is not a committee, corporation, or co-op   union.

We look forward to working with the civic-minded people around us, to build a better future for those who come after us.

The spectrum of Conservative vision will have diverse manifestations. Solid reasoning is expected and clarity of expressed values is to be appreciated.

Any feed's appearance on the SoonerPolitics.org website should not be construed to be representing any expressed position of Soonerpolitics.org, it's directors, or staff, or any of the other sources of content.
2) Relevance and timeliness is essential to everyone. We will incrementally place feeds based on how often the publications post material pertinent to Oklahoma civic life.
We welcome the public to suggest source feeds and ideas for the further development of SoonerPolitics.org. The contact form is the best way to communicate back to us.
3) Endorsements are an inevitable reality. A writer may express a preference prior to an election. We do value objectivity in the feed's overall presentation. Sooner Politics.org would like to see a feed's editorial endorsement stay confined to a succinct post of a clear endorsement rather than  subliminally  oozing from the words and illustrations of endless puff posts.
4) This policy is not a contract with content sources.  SoonerPolitics.org is striving to stay away from the traps of 'the love of mammon'. If an RSS code is found at a web source, the presumption of approval exists for anyone to share that information openly. This is not a fiduciary agreement with any feed source and not an admission that a monetary consideration is being conceded or demanded.
5) We do our best to promote our sources. We want multitudes of readers to 'click through' and bookmark the source's web locations.
If our posted links of headlines and snippets is a clear offense to a source feed, then a clear and direct notification will suffice to result in our timely response. We don't want to continue publishing source feeds who don't want to be cooperating with SoonerPolitics.org.
6) Conservatism is a term with endless possible definitions. We will do our best to be guided by our best understanding off what it means to be conservative in civic matters.
We expect there to be disputes. But we expect fellow conservatives to honor the source's civic motivation even when they disagree with each other's views. Apathy is a much greater danger to freedom than the free thought of a good citizen.

Sooner Politics is a group of committed Oklahoma civic volunteers who seek to promote traditional values of faith, family, and freedom.
We are concerned about growing initiatives to undermine the principles which have been a foundation of our great way of life.
We encourage fellow citizens to get involved in neighborhood, community, and political organizations, to make a better world by remembering the values we were taught and sharing them with those around you.

(adopted from the 2016 OKGOP State Convention)
Values:
  • We believe in limited government,
  • individual liberty,
  • natural rights, and
  • personal moral responsibility.
We believe Oklahoma should be a place of opportunity where people who work hard and abide by just and equally applied laws can pursue their own dreams with a reasonable expectation of success.
Premises:
  1. Our rights of life, liberty, and property are natural rights granted to us by God, protected by the Constitution, to be defended by our elected officials.
  2. That we are to function as part of a Constitutional Republic with undefined state power as described in the U.S. Constitution, where Oklahoma Sovereignty is considered constitutionally superior to a Federal government that has limited and defined power and our State Sovereignty must be protected by State elected officials.
  3. In the right to worship as we please without government intrusion or interference.
  4. God is the Author and Creator of life and that all human life, both born and unborn, should be protected.
  5. Traditional marriage consists of one man and one woman.
  6. Economic freedom is the cornerstone of individual liberty and the private sector and free market principles are the best to stimulate economic development rather than government subsidies or programs.
  7. Revenues collected at all levels of government should be used only for well-defined, legitimate government functions, and should be carried out efficiently so that tax rates may be kept as low as possible.
  8. It is the right of every parent to act in their children’s best interest including health decisions and choosing the form of their education, whether at a public school, private school, or homeschool.
  9. We welcome immigrants who want to legally seek freedom and opportunity, who want to work and who will embrace our values, learn the English language and respect our Union’s border and State’s sovereignty.
  10. In Supporting and maintaining a strong national defense and advocate “Peace through Strength.”
