Oklahoma Forestry Director Fired for Forgetting Rule #1: Protect the Governors Stuff First

Let’s all raise a Smokey Bear salute to former Oklahoma State Forester Mark Goeller.

A national expert on enhanced wildfire prediction and response coordination, he was fired by Governor Stitt last week after a 40-year career—apparently for not doing enough to protect Stitt’s hobby farm from burning to the ground during the wildfire outbreak that rolled through the state a few weeks ago.

We're happy to report that Oklahoma is still a Top 10 State for theocratic morons.

Yesterday afternoon, State Senator Shane Jett and State Representative Jim Olsen – two visionaries in the movement to preserve a teacher's right to spank special ed students – introduced a concurrent resolution that proclaims “Christ is King” and recognizes “the spiritual heritage of Oklahoma.”

Senate Passes Bill to Allow Hunting of Oklahoma Mountain LionsAll Five of Them

Over the years, I’ve always enjoyed poking fun at our media and local culture’s obsession with mountain lion sightings.

And hey, I get it.

Oklahoma doesn’t have a permanent population of the big cats—the ones spotted here are usually lost, passing through, or stuck in the Oklahoma Trails exhibit at the OKC Zoo – so when one does show up on a trail cam or Ring doorbell or whatever, it’s a rare and exciting thing that gets a lot of attention.

Markwayne Mullin is hiding from voters again

For a big, strong tough guy, Marcuswayne Mullin sure can be a scaredy cat when it comes to facing angry voters.

Earlier this week, KFOR’s Spencer Humphrey reported that “Machowayne” – a solid nickname I wish I had thought of earlier – held a virtual town hall to talk to voters about all the calculatedly chaotic changes happening in the federal government.

I have some sad news for those Oklahomans who still enjoy getting their nightly sports fix on local network TV at 10:25pm... on the nights the weather doesn’t run long.

Last night, KFOR’s Dylan Buckingham announced he’s hanging up the sports coat, resetting the chyron, delivering one final boom goes the dynamite, and walking away from TV sports after 15 years on the studio court.

Around the same time every year, a new restaurant—a new Mexican restaurant—gets added to my ever-growing repertoire, prompting me to scream “¡Aye, Dios mío!” to the sky and proclaim that this one—yes, this very one—is my new favorite eatery of all time.

Sorry, but it’s true…

It looks like Oklahoma’s favorite BBQ grifter has fallen on some tough times.

Thanks to a tip via the Ogle Mole Network, we’ve learned that the Mr. Gatti’s Pizza franchise that Foggy Bottom grifter Brent Swadley opened back in 2023 has been taken over by corporate ownership and is now on the market for a cool $1.9 million.

We have great news for anyone who likes risking their life on N. May!

Apparently unaware that Oklahoma drivers are some of the worst motorists on the planet, the City of OKC announced last week they’re wanting to make the infamous N. May Ave. and NW Expressway interchange even more difficult to navigate for reckless teenagers, weary old people, and everyone else texting while driving.
