Maybe it’s because I’m A) under the age of 75, B) Find cults of personality weird and creepy, and C) not a washed-up college football coach who brought shame and disgrace to the program I led—yet is still revered by the university and local media—I haven’t watched or replayed more than 60 seconds of any Donald Trump (or Kamala Harris) speech during this presidential cycle.

Well, outside of the one where Trump was nearly assassinated. I did watch some replays of that one.

I first went to the Saturn Grill, located in the rich part of town at 6432 Avondale Drive in Nichols Hill, quite a few years ago and, sadly, I didn’t have a good experience. Of course, though, I wasn’t as experienced in the world of non-taco truck dining as I am now. Sort of.

Either way, my girlfriend wanted to go to Trader Joe’s and afterward, she wanted to have lunch at one of her favorite places, Saturn Grill. Even though I was somewhat squeamish about this restaurant, I was determined to give it a professional try…and, some twenty years later, it wasn’t too bad!

Back in June, after The Frontier released their big exposé on the Rise and Fall of Sellout Crowd – the most ambitiously unsustainable dumb idea in Oklahoma sports media history – I asked a Mole with connections to Big Dog Media – the Toby Keith, Bob Stoops, and Hunter Miller conglomerate that funded the site – about a little snippet where Berry Tramel expressed concerns that he feared bankruptcy if the group tried to collect on their $1.5-million loan.

The Mole seemed to brush off Ole’ Boomer’s concerns, saying something to the effect of, “Do you really think Bob Stoops and Barry Switzer want to be seen as shaking down Berry Tramel?”

Well, I guess the answer to that question is… “No, they don’t mind. And, in fact, they seem to be relishing it!”

Last week, the Oklahoma Board of (Theocratical) Education held its monthly board meeting inside the packed, uncomfortable, and not very cozy confines underneath the Oliver Hodge Building.

Somewhat surprisingly, the meeting wasn’t as big of a shit show as the typical affair, partly due to Oklahoma AG Gentner Drummond – one of the few remaining reasonable, non-theocrat conservatives in the Oklahoma government – continuing to flex his muscle over Oklahoma Education Superintendent.

What the Hell—emphasis on Hell—is the M.I.O. Christian horror film Nefarious trying to tell me?

Christian horror has always been an odd outlier in cinema, from the '70s exploitation schlock of A Thief in the Night or The Late Great Planet Earth to the more modern homilies of The Omega Code and The Hangman's Curse. And, you know, that was all fine and good. Hallelujah.
