Recently, a number of national organizations picked up false and misleading information about SB 1419 from TrackBill, a national legislative tracking service. Their "summary" of the bill alleged that it gave local church officials the right to appoint their own sworn law enforcement officers. THAT IS NOT TRUE. I wrote the language submitted by Senator Dahm in the first draft presented. That provision of SB 1410 only exempts uncompensated church security volunteers from having to have a state security license. It does nothing else. The TrackBill "summary" and the "summaries" published by others using TrackBill are completely false.
