Today, August 18, is the 100th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. With the passage, there was nationwide suffrage of women. Until then, only about half of the states "allowed" women to vote in some elections. The suffrage movement was a bitter battle to change the culture in the US which took over 70 years. The battle ended in Tennessee, with ratification ending the "Battle of the Roses." Many do not know just how far back the women's rights and suffrage movement began. While not in the form that it finally took, it began farther back than you might think. (Read more by clicking on the pictures)
