Anyone who works in right-leaning politics on social media has a degree of paranoia that Big Tech is throttling. It's a paranoia validated by two eyes that view web traffic and driven by leftists and the media (but I repeat myself) not only supporting right-leaning opinions be throttled but actively encouraging more of it. Yet there is no "proof." And as an example of how difficult it is to get "proof," Elon Musk just revealed a line of code that's been throttling tweets since 2012.
Elon made the revelation during an interview with The Babylon Bee. Unclear is if this interview was part of an arrangement to help them pay off the $44 billion they owe Musk.
We just discovered last week some hidden layer of censorship that was written in 2012. It would basically suppress -- it had a list of words [if you used] that would get massively deamplified.
Musk said there were about a thousand words on the list. One of them was "suck." How much to want to bet one of the other 999 of them was "Romney?" Remember, 2012 was the "What about your gaffes" election.
This is why Big Tech and a president who has a robust plan to ackshually do something about Big Tech (not just virtue signal about it on Big Tech platforms) is a top campaign issue for me. And I'm not even sure what can be done. But if Twitter just found one line of code that has been severely throttling tweets for eleven years -- three presidential elections ago -- how many more lines of secret code have been written since then. People who work for Big Tech have over a decade of growing more bitterly partisan and more outspoken about blocking any opposing viewpoint.
And this is a platform that less than a quarter of America uses. OVER SEVENTY PERCENT of America uses Facebook, who created a portal so the federal government could block posts the federal government deemed "misinformation."
That was blatant. How easy is it for a single coder to sneak a single line of code into these platforms to throttle THEIR political opponents? We need to demand answers.
