Editorial: Political Correctness Hits the Pro Life Movement

1/12/2018

Comments

Some folks are saying that it's wrong to even talk about the 'Pro-Life Movement' because it's not moving, anymore.
Twenty years ago there was Operation Rescue and the whole 'Rescue Movement'. Now we have a new generation and a new term to insert.
They insist that they are not 'Pro Life'. They say that they are 'Abolitionists'.
The term 'Abolitionist' is not new. It's long been connected to major issues like stopping slavery, stopping capital punishment, stopping whatever it is that they are morally opposed to. Stopping abortion is certainly a proper issue to apply here.
But many abolitionists then expect adherents to agree with a specific strategy or tactics to accomplish cultural or political victory. Sometimes even military victory.
What I will not confirm to, is being told that I can't say "anti-abortion", "pro-life", or whatever version of "abolitionist".
I love the message, but I really hate political-correctness regardless how well intentioned. How about we all just agree to be committed to stopping the killing of the innocent? This has turned to political cannibalism in some remote circles, and I see it spreading. Primary season just sickens me, sometimes.
Picture
John Brown & Frederick Douglass had strong disagreements over some of the tactics of ending slavery. But history regards them both as Abolitionists.
It's sorta like how the issue of a federal balanced budget & term limits turned into political cannibalism. Some folks got called the 'L' word because they want to try one method that some others are afraid of.
The fact remains that we were all wanting the same thing, but we just came up with different strategies.
The problem happening today is just like the rift that developed between Frederick Douglass & John Brown. They each had a different strategy and they each wanted to declare their own strategy to be "Real Abolitionism".
They were allies who could have devoured each other instead of defeating slavery.
I have more to say but I'll stop for a while.

How Did Senator Todd Lamb Used To Vote? We'll Tell You.

Picture
Lt. Governor Todd Lamb was once a state senator. He was first elected in 2004, and became Majority Floor Leader in 2009.  He voted on hundreds of bills and authored several. While this all happened in the past decade
The good journalists at the Oklahoma Constitution have provided the voters of Oklahoma with a record of key legislative voting records since the early 1980s. Steve Byas and Ron McWhirter have worked with the members of Oklahoma Conservative Political Action Committee, to catalog some of the most significant bills deliberated at the legislature each year, and then they identify how each member voted.

New Poll Reports 62% Support For Medical Cannabis  In Oklahoma

1/11/2018

Comments

KOKI Fox23 reports that Oklahomans For Health released the results of a statewide poll regarding the medical use of Cannabis products under direct supervision of a licensed physician.
According to Oklahomans for Health, a new poll  found that 62% of Oklahomans support State Question 788, a measure that would legalize medical marijuana in the state.
Oklahomans will cast their votes on SQ788 on June 26.

Oklahomans for Health issued a news release Thursday with the polling information and a statement regarding recent criticism for the wording of SQ788. People have pointed out the lack of medical conditions, in particular.

"The intent of no medical conditions is that it forces the professional recommendation squarely on the shoulders of the physicians, whereas in other states they are just checking a box. We think the decision of whether a patient should get a prescription should rest with the medical professional," said Chip Paul, chair of Oklahomans for Health.

According to the Sooner Poll, 73 percent of Oklahomans support the physician recommendation section of SQ788.

UPDATED: Campaign Worker Declares It 'A Sin To Not Vote For Dan Fisher'

1/11/2018

Comments

Q: What do you get when an Oklahoma Fisher & Hunter join forces?
A: If it's Rev. Dan Fisher & Abolitionist leader Russell Hunter, then broad judgments of public sin for not voting for God's candidate.
This morning, the well known leader of Oklahoma's Abolish Human Abortion (AHA) group, T. Russell Hunter; posted a strong denouncement upon any Oklahoma voter who fails to vote for Dan Fisher, 5 &1/2 months from now (assuming that God has told the young prophet just who is going to be on the ballot for the Republican Oklahoma Primary for Governor).
This past fall, Russell Hunter has been seen prominently at Dan Fisher's events, helping to organize and assist. He is credited with assisting in Fisher's video productions.
But now the Fisher Campaign seems rather silent while dozens of supporters rally to confirm Hunter's judgments of sinful voting in the upcoming elections.
What has been plentiful is the attempts to the scold anyone who asks Dan Fisher to clarify if the candidate shares the young Abolitionists' doctrinal edict.

The Asset Forfeiture Practice Gets More Aggressive

1/9/2018

PictureEdwin Meese
The Tulsa Frontier reports that Oklahoma's law enforcement and prosecutors greatly ramped up their asset forfeiture practices during 2017. The complete numbers include both civil asset forfeiture and criminal forfeiture(after a successful prosecution).
A few court districts reported $0 forfeiture practices. A growing number of current and former prosecutors now repudiate the practice of Civil Asset Forfeiture.
Among them is the Former US Attorney General, Edwin Meese. He spoke in Tulsa last month and completely repudiated his own former actions as President Reagan's AG.  Meese says that a criminal conviction must be a prerequisite. He says it was developed to go after international cartels who were importing cocaine during the 80s. He said that seizing foreign owned assets was the only effective means of stopping those cartels operating outside US borders.

7 Meaningless Marijuana Statistics

With all the 'buzz' in the news about the upcoming election for medical marijuana, We're hearing so much bad science and even worse bogus statistics about marijuana's effect on the individual, the family, and the community.
  1. Mentally ill people use it
  2. It'll cause more medical problems
  3. Children might try it
  4. Cops have no breathalyzer machine to detect impairment
  5. Prohibition works just fine.
  6. Medicinal CBD oil is all you need.
  7. It's not good for you.

1. Mentally ill people use it.

Yes they do. They are currently prescribed much more dangerous drugs, too. They also take Methamphetamine (Ritalin). They take highly addictive Benzodiazapines (tranquilizers), psychotropic drugs with potentially fatal contraindications. Smoking pot cannot cause death. You just get too goofy to be able to smoke, then you go take a nap, followed by a strong case of the munchies.

Clive Bundy Defeats Obama's Justice Dept.

1/8/2018

Clive Bundy has been locked up in a local jail for 2 years. Today the federal court set him free and order the Justice Dept. to never press these charges against him, again.
A federal judge dismissed felony conspiracy and weapons charges Monday against Bunkerville rancher Cliven Bundy, two of his sons and an independent militia member.
U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro, who granted a mistrial in the case last month, said Monday’s decision was based, in part, on “flagrant prosecutorial misconduct.”
“A universal sense of justice has been violated,” Navarro said.
Bundy stepped out of jail-issued clothing for the first time in nearly two years, donning a cowboy hat, babyblue button-down shirt, gray sport coat, blue jeans and brown boots and left the federal courthouse in Las Vegas with his arm around his wife, Carol.
“I’ve got my sweetheart beside me. I’m feeling pretty good. But I’m not used to being free. I’ve been a political prisoner for right about 700 days today,” he said, after having been in federal custody since Feb. 10. “I come in this court an innocent man, and I’m going to leave an innocent man.”

Conservative Groups Mobilizing For Better State Govt.

1/8/2018

Will Republicans Challenge Their Own Incumbents?

Several conservative groups in Oklahoma are mobilizing with an intent to build a better vision for Oklahoma government. Some are focusing on specific candidates they want to see in office, while others are concentrating on the message of what conservatism is supposed to mean. And then still others are committed to bypassing the legislature and governor completely, by presenting specific reforms  directly to the voters.
The Tulsa 912 Project is preparing a conference on campaign management for this winter. A date will be announced within weeks.
Several Republican County Committees are resuming the practice of more frequent meetings, to assist the election process and give candidates more opportunity to be vetted within the party structure. Some OKGOP County Committees have not held any organizational meetings for several years, until recent months. Some are planning 'straw poll' events after the April filing period.
The Oklahoma Conservative PAC vets candidates and provides endorsements and funding to like-minded and competent candidates
But to give some sense of the outrage of the conservative base, I'll share with you, this...

Bannon's Blustering Turns Into Retractions

1/7/2018

Comments

Picture
Axios News is claiming an exclusive series of retractions by former presidential advisor, Steve Bannon. Bannon had foolishly invited avowed enemies of President Trump to have extensive access to the West Wing of the White House during the first 6 months of Trump's term.
Bannon is also now the main suspect in the massive leaking of information from the White House to the national press.
Here is a list of Bannon's retractions:
  • "Donald Trump, Jr. is both a patriot and a good man. He has been relentless in his advocacy for his father and the agenda that has helped turn our country around."
  • "My support is also unwavering for the president and his agenda — as I have shown daily in my national radio broadcasts, on the pages of Breitbart News and in speeches and appearances from Tokyo and Hong Kong to Arizona and Alabama."
  • "President Trump was the only candidate that could have taken on and defeated the Clinton apparatus. I am the only person to date to conduct a global effort to preach the message of Trump and Trumpism; and remain ready to stand in the breech for this president's efforts to make America great again."
  • "My comments about the meeting with Russian nationals came from my life experiences as a Naval officer stationed aboard a destroyer whose main mission was to hunt Soviet submarines to my time at the Pentagon during the Reagan years when our focus was the defeat of 'the evil empire' and to making films about Reagan's war against the Soviets and Hillary Clinton's involvement in selling uranium to them."
  • "My comments were aimed at Paul Manafort, a seasoned campaign professional with experience and knowledge of how the Russians operate. He should have known they are duplicitous, cunning and not our friends. To reiterate, those comments were not aimed at Don Jr."
  • "Everything I have to say about the ridiculous nature of the Russian 'collusion' investigation I said on my 60 Minutes interview. There was no collusion and the investigation is a witch hunt."
  • "I regret that my delay in responding to the inaccurate reporting regarding Don Jr has diverted attention from the president's historical accomplishments in the first year of his presidency."

Tax Reform Reality

The good news is that we can keep living beyond our means.
Our federal govt. will keep spending about $1 billion more than our taxes give them.

The bad news is that we will make our children  pay for the past  50 years of  federal debt.

The Culture War and the End of Liberty

1/7/2018

Comments

The 'West' is being sucked into a global culture war....
There, I said it. We all have been dealing with battle skirmishes, but we may not have seen the many efforts to pre-position troops to out flank our desires to evade this global war.
Sadly, the simple desire for liberty is quickly becoming the 'civilian casualty' suffering the greatest death toll. We've been here before. As recent as the 1980s. That war ended when the hammer & sickle came down from the flagpole at the Kremlin.

Global Fascism

This war with a 'fascist globalism' has been joined by the people through the pushback against things like politically-correct speech, having our little girls share a public restroom with strange men, forcing merchants into servitude of the things they believe are wickedness. Some communities are now overrun by strategic mass migration of tribes who immediately declare war against their new host.
Neither the globalist left nor the nativist right are advancing the cause of personal liberty. They never have been. And the escape to liberty is often very much like a desperate flight of a refugee who just wanted to be left alone.
The global war from 1935-45 had some sanctuary nations. But even Switzerland is now an enlisted militant in the globalist ranks.
Writer's note: I am openly breaking a personal journalistic standard in this essay. Fascism is an economic system (also called corporatism). But I use the contemporary bastardization of the term when I discuss cultural fascism.

Nixon's Drug War & Culture War

1/6/2018

Comments

An excerpt from Nixon and the Generation Gap
In the 1960s, as drugs became symbols of youthful rebellion, social upheaval, and political dissent, the government halted scientific research to evaluate their medical safety and efficacy.

In June 1971, President Nixon declared a “war on drugs.” He dramatically increased the size and presence of federal drug control agencies, and pushed through measures such as mandatory sentencing and no-knock warrants.

A top Nixon aide, John Ehrlichman, later admitted:
“You want to know what this was really all about. The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I’m saying. We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”
Picture
Before he died, John Erlichman allegedly gave an inside account of how the Nixon White House created the 'drug war' to suppress hippies and blacks.

Dr. Everett Piper Supports Medically-Supervised Marijuana

1/5/2018

Comments

The president of one of Oklahoma's leading Christian Universities, Dr. Everett Piper; conducted his weekly segments on Tulsa talk radio, this morning. This week the topics included drug policy changes. Piper gave his strong support for the medically-supervised use of cannabis products.

At 12:30 into the segment, Dr. Piper is asked by Pat Campbell of KFAQ, whether he supports the medically supervised use of marijuana?
"I have no problem, no problem,,, No problem!
If a doctor prescribes a drug for your cancer or other ailment, then that's between you and your doctor. I have no difficulty with that." That's a totally different conversation than recreational consumption."

Dr. Piper calls himself a 'teetotaler' (a phrase which goes back at least 100 years, to describe those who avoid liquor consumption). But he does not seek to impose his personal convictions as a universal doctrine.
Piper admits that he sometimes is rightfully criticized for using the 'slippery slope' analogy to discredit social changes.
  We've included the podcast, below.

Tulsa Radio's Pat Campbell Predicts Passage of Medical Marijuana

1/5/2018

Comments

Tulsa talk radio host, Pat Campbell predicted the passage of medical marijuana on his Friday morning show. He said efforts to shield the November general election will likely help the June balloting to go further to the advantage of the drug reform proponents.
We're posting the podcast segments below. Campbell cites the Sooner Politics recent articles on federal & state policy changes and proposals. At 6:45 into the segment Campbell discusses the ballot date for State Question 788, for medical marijuana.
At about 20:00, Campbell discusses the new policy of the Federal govt. which will likely lead to a US Supreme Court showdown.
Campbell went on to say how he will relish the opportunity to put each gubernatorial candidate on the spot by insisting that they go on the record with their view of the medical marijuana state question.
One additional point Campbell stressed is how messaging and terminology will often determine the outcome of a political matter. "He who controls the language, controls the outcome."
