It is just this type of reaction that has Brian Hobbs, Mayor of Newkirk, Oklahoma; ready to ask just what kind of society we've become?
Hobbs wrote a letter to Sooner Politics, to reach out to small town mayors and councils across the state. He wants us to remember the lessons of last century and the loss of liberty which so easily slipped into oppression when a convenient crisis was acted upon by an executive officer who decides that the liberty of those who he serves is not as important as his ease of carrying out control of the village. Let's let Mayor Hobbs tell us, in his own words.
I will preface this statement with the fact that as an elected officer, I have encouraged everyone I know to stay home including my direct family my parents my wife’s parents as much as possible. I don’t want anyone to take this as encouragement to be irresponsible. I have asked everyone to practice good hygiene and social distancing. I have asked that people treat this corona virus as a real threat. I have prayed for people to be safe and that God’s will be done. I am not trying to convince anyone that the government is going to line people up in the street tomorrow and execute them. I am only pointing out that freedom has eroded gradually over time. There is a difference between suggesting something and ordering it, backed by the threat of violence.

Today the mayor of Bristow, Oklahoma declared "an executive order" of Curfew(10pm=5am) and limits all social gatherings anytime to just 1 person. Daytime excursions outside will be stopped, interrogated as to itinerary & the nature of the local journeys. individuals are banned from any social interaction outside the residence. We still don't have clarification if a parent will face arrest for holding the hand of a young child while crossing the street. At the bottom of this article we posted that executive edict.
OKC Attorney, Frank Urbanic; penned this article at his own law firm's website. We asked to reprint it for our readers. IS GOVERNOR STITT’S CORONAVIRUS EMERGENCY ORDER LEGAL?
