Updated: Republican Legislators Openly Supporting Some Democrat Candidates

10/12/2018

Comments

Update: Rep Ross Ford Affirms Solidarity With Trump
In the further splintering of the Oklahoma Republican Party, some newly elected Republican legislators are now openly expressing preference for Democrats.
In  her 2 years in office, Tulsa's Rep. Carol Bush has several times openly ridiculed many Republicans and cheered on the candidacy of a Democrat running for US Congress.  Bush supports Horn in the CD-5 race against Congressman Steve Russell.

This is happening while many other legislative leaders like Chris Kannady and Josh West have organized efforts to unseat the most consistently faithful conservatives in the legislature.  The Associated press exposed that effort in a nationally-followed story.
It appears that the State Committee of the Oklahoma Republicans is doing nothing about this deterioration. Nor has the State Chair, Pam Pollard. Meanwhile, many grassroots Republican activists are ready to exact reforms when they reorganize in next January's Republican precinct caucuses.

If you're reading this message, The story may be overblown. But ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names & Numbers) is setting this week as a time to upgrade their security process. It could lead to temporary partial outages.
BGR.com reports the following:
Internet users be ready for a widespread network outage that could restrict users from accessing internet. Internet users across the globe are expected to face internet disruption for the next 48 hours. According to Russia Today, the internet will be disrupted for users as key domain servers undergo routine maintenance.
The report from the Russian news organization claims that Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is preparing for maintenance work of domain servers and related network infrastructure. ICANN is planning to change cryptographic key during this maintenance work, which will result in downtime in internet activity across the globe. The planned maintenance set to be undertaken by ICANN will help protect the Domain Name System (DNS), which acts as internet’s very own address book.

School Board Issues Fake Apology

10/9/2018

Comments

A Recent drama at OKC's Crooked Oak Schools is bringing up a discussion of the proper role of a school board in legislative elections.  The matter surrounds a school teacher's right to use her own time and free speech rights when away from the school campus. Especially that teacher's right to run for elective office.
 KFOR TV in OKC said;
The controversy started when State Senator Paul Rosino toured Crooked Oak Public Schools last month and stopped into teacher Amanda Jeffers' classroom. While the Oklahoma City Republican was in the room, Jeffers said she asked Rosino to talk to her high school English students about his legislation, including a bill he co-authored on work requirements for SoonerCare recipients. The legislation, HB 2932, passed the house and senate (mostly along party lines) and was signed into law by Gov. Mary Fallin this past spring."He just said, ‘Yes I did. I think that all able-bodied people should work at least part-time in order to receive this benefit,'" Jeffers said. "And that was essentially the end of the conversation.
Now, that would not cause any school board to get involved at all. Not even the principal or superintendent would have a problem with that. It was excellent work by a high school teacher to help her kids relate to current issues.

Rep Kannady Followed Osborn's Lead To Take Down Fellow Republicans

10/8/2018

Comments

We're posting that video for the public to review. We're also posting Rep. Leslie Osborn's Feb. 12th, 2018 floor debate on the "Step Up" tax increases. . She said that just as President Trump is committed to draining the swamp in Washington, House leaders need to recruit primary opponents against those who don't go along with her massive new taxes.
Never mind that Trump is battling the bloat and cronyism of the federal govt.; Osborn is seeking to expand that massive and corrupt bloat in Oklahoma. If lawmakers don't vote like her, she openly threatens to raise up challengers against them in the upcoming summer primary elections, followed by general elections in November.
Picture
PictureKannady & West watch Osborn make hostile threats
Last week, Rep. Chris Kannady (R-Moore) told KWTV News 9 that "the Platform Caucus started the talk of 'primarying' fellow House Republicans". But a careful review of captured video now shows that the only previous public comments were made by Leslie Osborn, Kannady's ally in massive tax increase initiatives.  Josh West also watched as Osborn incited the hostility  . The two now admit to national media that they launched a plot to defeat many Republican fellow incumbents, this year.
In June of 2017, the leadership of the Republican Platform Caucus held only one public event and issued no press statements. the one public event was hosted by the Tulsa Republican Assembly. That discussion lasted less than one hour and the only mention was Rep. Chuck Strohm's prediction that he will face a primary challenge because he refused to vote for the taxes (some of which were later ruled unconstitutional).

We loaded the House floor speech from Feb. 12th, and  set it to the 7 minute Osborn speech.
You'll hear her grave warnings that "this is the only bill which can provide a teacher payraise.".
Six weeks later she made similar statements about the next of many planned tax increases.
Meanwhile she and other budget committee members sought to kill a $4000 teacher stipend that Rep. Tom Gann authored. Gann's plan tapped into a massive state trust fund designed for education funding without raising taxes.

Every County Needs A Different Type of Education Reform

10/6/2018

Comments

There are 30 counties in Oklahoma that have less than 3000 total public school students. In most states that would be considered one average-sized school district,  But the reality is that Oklahoma pays 120 school superintendents to do the job in those 30 Oklahoma counties.  This is just one aspect of administrative reform which is screaming out for implementation.  It would result in increased classroom funding of about $1500 per student, per year, in those counties.
There are many ways to improve the classroom experience for both the student & the teacher, but administrators, regulations, and demagoguery are continuing to stand in the way.
Bigger school districts are not always better or more efficient. The 1889 Institute did a major analysis of Oklahoma's school districts & their data shows that districts with over 6000 students are less efficient in getting funds to the classroom.

Bust Up The Big Ones:

Oklahoma's two largest school districts (OKC & Tulsa) have perhaps the worst student performance scores and get the most money in per-pupil state funding. They should be split into separate districts with no more than two high schools and their feeder elementary & middle school campuses.   Doing so would add many more school board seats so that invested families can have a greater role in the community's public education.
Picture
It's the wasted money and inefficient operations that are robbing communities of the schools they otherwise would have. If we get rid of ridiculous over-regulating, our kids could have a lot more education in those 12 years.

Glenn Beck Defends Tulsa GOP State Fair 'Wall'

10/3/2018

Comments

UPDATED 10/3, 10:45am:
This morning on the Pat Campbell radio show, the GOP ' Build the Wall' display was the hot topic for the 2nd consecutive day.  But today, national conservative icon, Glenn Beck called in and used the issue to launch discussion of his current book tour; 'Addicted To Outrage'.
Beck says that the current craze of 'claiming the victim card' is harming the discourse and preventing meaningful discourse about diverse ways of seeing current issues.  Beck will be in Tulsa later this fall for a special event.
"Grow a set"; said Beck. Those on the right have had daily opportunities to be outraged, but most of us wisely don't go there. Beck advocates for both orderly & secure borders, and an openness to all races & nationalities. He explains that the victimhood strategy is a well-organized strategy which Beck calls 'a virus in our society'.
A few minutes later, Campbell had Tulsa County GOP Chair, David McLain in the studio.  Frequent commentator, Ronda Vuillemont-Smith also joined the conversation.  Campbell challenged them about the communication strategy and the decision to resume the issue & display about a matter which some have called 'racist'.

Rep. Jordan Suspends Campaign For New Judgeship Post

10/2/2018

Comments

Rep. John Paul Jordan is announcing the suspension of his campaign for District Court Judge in Canadian County.  He made the announcement on his social media acct.
He cites a clause of the constitution where current lawmakers cannot create a govt post or enhance it; and then get elected or appointed to it during his term of legislative service. Jordan is to be applauded for voluntarily making this conscientious move.
But the State Supreme Court disagrees with Jordan. In The 2014 Kunzweiler v Jordan case, the court majority voted 6-2 that since the term of office begins after Fred Jordan's current term ends, it is not a constitutional violation.  I did not agree with this ruling, but it seems only retired justice Steven Taylor was bold enough to tell his colleagues differently.
Today I am announcing that I am suspending my campaign for District Judge. I did not make the decision to run for this office lightly neither is the decision to end this campaign.
At the time of filing for office, I consulted several experts and the belief was that while the judgeship was new for Canadian County, overall the state did not create a new judicial position. It was my own recent discovery that there could be an issue.
Upon investigation, it has become clear the 2nd District Judgeship for Canadian County is a completely new elected office. Should I be elected, I would be in violation of Article 5, Section 23 of Oklahoma Constitution.

Tulsa State Fair Relents: GOP 'Build The Wall' Exhibit Is Back Up

10/2/2018

Comments

UPDATED: photo corrected.
Within hours of shutting down a fundamental free speech & National Security expression, the Administration of the Tulsa State Fair reversed the ruling of a booth sales staffer, and told the Tulsa County GOP Chairman; "Let's build that wall", today.
There was never a paper trail left by the fair management. But Tulsa GOP Chair, David McLain said; "A staffer named Marilyn came to our booth on Monday and said; "That wall violates the  "offensive" clause in your contract and needs to be immediately removed.".
Tulsa GOP Central Committee member, Donny Tieman advised  McLain, and the two decided to take up the matter in the morning with the administration of the fair.
But at the peak of evening traffic, a crew of the fair staff came to the booth and attempted to begin taking down the $2000+/yr. booth which the Tulsa GOP had been operating for decades.  This happened while a few booths away a Homosexual activist booth was fully functioning and not at all sanctioned for their multiple exhibit items.
Tieman was on the phone with Administration immediately and succeeded in getting the Fair Administration to allow the display to be left up until closing Monday night.  Here's how Fox23 covered the story this morning.

BREAKING: Tulsa County Fair Shuts Down GOP Wall Exhibit

10/2/2018

Comments

The Tulsa County Fair Board threatened to immediately expel the County Republican Party from the fair if the 'national security wall' promotion is not immediately shut down.
Citing only an "offensive speech" clause, the fair staffers made a claim that this "buy a brick" fundraiser is so offensive that it outrages the decency of the public.
GOP County Chairman, David McLain issued this press release, calling for the public to make their own statement to the County Commissioners and fair board.
Good afternoon this is your County Chairman David McLain.
For those of you who are unaware our first amendment right is under attack at the Tulsa County Fair. The fair authorities have forced us to take down our fundraising wall because they said it was offensive. National security is not offensive! Please call these people and tell them to allow the Republican Party of Tulsa County to put back our Fair-booth wall.
Please call these numbers:
Fair Admin: 918.744.1113
Commercial Sales: 918.269.0585
County Comm. Ron Peters: 918.596.5010
Please forward this text to all your Republican Friends.
