We're coming up on the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Soviet block empire, and the end of the cold war. It met it's demise, not by the firing of missiles, or invading beach heads. It happened when the people in those lands rediscovered liberty in small doses, and decided they had a birth right to all of the liberty God gave them.
The first images of Germans dancing on the Berlin Wall, with machine gun turrets in the background, showed the world that liberty is a powerful doctrine. It is a doctrine whose inspiration comes from Jefferson's American Declaration of Independence of 1776, Bishop Stephen Langton's British Magna Carta of 1215, and Professor Martin Luther's Ninety-five Theses, of 1517. Those vested with govt. power have the most opportunity to defend human liberty; and they also face the most scrutiny for actions which undermine liberty. But liberty and security are not synonymous. In fact, Benjamin Franklin says they are often diametrically opposed. |
This is what has led to growing protests across Oklahoma. Mayors and even state leaders, have usurped powers dishonestly, to take powers not statutorily granted, and have repeatedly spread a narrative of caring more for our safety, while plunging our economy into depression.
Senator Nathan Dahm reported that in mid March, Gov. Kevin Stitt falsely proclaimed a 'State of Riot', to grab Riot Control emergency powers. When we reported his unconstitutional act, he immediately changed it to a Health Emergency, and summoned the Health Dept. Head, to take the lead. A Democrat governor could face impeachment for an act of this magnitude. This is why we 'climb back on' the monuments of power. We stand at city halls, court houses, state offices, and national monuments. We reassert our intent to own our selves, our jobs, our communities, state, and nation. We claim our faith gatherings, our peaceful assemblies, our neighborhoods, & societies. Our marketplaces and town squares belong to the people. Even the paramilitary checkpoints at the airports and govt. buildings are an affront to our liberty. They create more killing zones than we previously ever had to defend against. |
Our daily declaration of independence comes also in our daily tasks of providing for ourselves and our households. Our caring for the neighbors around us, whether through our faith communities or our neighborhood efforts. Our training of our children to live independently and competently, is as important as anything a parent can do for a child. Govt. has largely prioritized it's functions in creating perpetual dependence on govt. Govt. schools don't even educate children in many core functions of adult responsibility. That's left up to parents to do, or for kids to struggle through life without.
Sometimes a good citizen is called upon to unite with his neighbors for a common cause of liberty and declare our own Independence from our own govt. . That is the case, today.
Jefferson says that not only do we have a constitutional right to defy unconstitutional dictates... Jefferson says we have a moral duty to defy such mandates. Recently, some Oklahoma lawsuits have been filed against multiple municipalities. More such filings are likely to come in May. Elections are also coming up. These are referendums on what our public office holders did with the public trust we placed in them. Sadly, several officials have failed in fundamental & constitutional requirements of their oaths of office. Never trust a person who just wants more power. The lust for power is what births a tyrant. But a people who are committed to defending their own liberty, are an army which will never be defeated. I stand with Patrick Henry, who pledged his life for the cause of liberty, and got to enjoy both, as a result. |

The 1968 My Lai Massacre could have been far worse, had not one courageous American unit leader (Hugh Thompson jr.) threatened to kill fellow soldiers if they killed more Vietnamese children. Even a good soldier needs to know when to defy an unconstitutional order, & even go to war against it. The final scene of the movie, 'A Few Good Men" illustrates this duty,
