One of the most trusted Oklahoma conservative voices on the radio for the past 15 years has been Eddie Huff. His longtime presence on KFAQ and other outlets has informed & guided the religious right, tea party, and Trump populist movements. After a few years away from the radio stations, Eddie has launched his own FreshBlack.Coffee podcast. In early June, Eddie sat down with David Van of SoonerPolitics.org, to discuss the needs of the conservatives in Oklahoma. What was supposed to be a breakfast meeting turned into a working group session that lasted until the noon hour. When the meeting ended, David Van had committed to joining Eddie's venture of making a weekly Sunday Morning show. Eddie's seasoned wisdom has made him a trusted counselor to much of Oklahoma's conservative majority. Political leaders and clergy respect Eddie's perspective and godly example. |
While iTunes dominates the podcasting platforms, it's owned & curated by Apple, and subject to their censorship whims. (Ask Alex Jones how that works). Google's Android OS is also offering a free phone app. Spotify is attempting to dominate by paying top podcasters like Joe Rogan a signing fee to attain exclusive rights to his Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
But other mobile apps, like Castbox, offer open source programming where users can enter their own feed urls, and get startup programming, as well as content that is banned on the big tech giants' servers.
Eddie Huff's Fresh Black Coffee is initially published to the Podbean audio servers. Eddie uses his own professional audio equipment and a young technician named Julian. The studio is in Tulsa. Every Saturday the team produces a weekly episode. Then the audio is filtered and trimmed. The final product is uploaded late Saturday night and premiers on Sunday morning.
David Van captures the video of the recording session and blends his image with the audio sync. The resulting video is then uploaded to separate servers as a low-bandwidth video podcast. That video feed is on the Feedburner services.
The final result is a choice of either audio or video podcasts, a blog website(FreshBlack.coffee), a Facebook page, and a syndication feed at SoonerPolitics.org/eddie.
This is the kind of citizen journalism which results in less dependence on commercial media outlets who no longer share Oklahoma's conservative values. Eddie Huff is a dedicated communicator and devoted Christian. His leadership in our state has a long legacy. SoonerPolitics.org is honored to assist his continued impact for our cultural and political reform.
