On Monday, State School Superintendent, Joy Hofmeister ordered all schools to suspend instruction at least until April 6th. While the schools are observing the planned Spring Break this week, the real impact starts on Monday, when parents were planning to have their kids back in the classroom But for the 30,000+ kids enrolled in Epic Virtual Charter School, the cessation is completely unnecessary, unproductive, and costly to families. Parents enrolled their kids in virtual charters to allow for the special family circumstances, child needs, safer environment, and flexibility. Hofmeister has greatly increased her hostility toward virtual charters since winning her final term in office, in November of 2018. She has been predatory toward Epic, in particular. “This requires a statewide answer and we need to be operating together with a uniform approach and with a unified voice,” Hofmeister said. “We want to put safety first and this is an important measure.” No, joy, we don't need to be using a uniform approach. that's a buzz word for 'don't innovate'. the failures of our 1800s model of instruction are evident in the diminished results. Virtual Charters may be beyond your capacity to comprehend; but get the hell out of our way! |
Epic's teachers rarely have to be present for child instruction Normally the assistance happens via a coordinated online and telephonic platform set up in Epic's educational platform. So Epic wants the children to remain in the weekly routine of learning hours and curriculum load, so they can complete their academic year at the end of May.
It appears obvious to those who observe Hofmeister candidly; that she's suppressing the massively popular and growing virtual education format. the bureaucracy of Oklahoma's major urban school districts are seeking every opportunity to slander Epic and the founders who are 'running circles around the outdated mode of classroom instruction. The demand of needless cessation is neither medically necessary not fiscally wise for the state or the families. Mandating a violation of the state's compulsory attendance laws is a criminal conspiracy by Hofmeister and the many bureaucrats who are complicit in the harms done to our state & our children.
It would appear that the deep state at 23rd & Lincoln is conspiring to discredit the innovators in any way possible. But this is clearly the most naked & criminal plot we've seen, to harm our families and our next generation.
For the sake of Oklahoma's future, Hofmeister must be enjoined in the state courts, the House impeachment, and/or in a motion to reconsider, by her own state Board of Education.
