The perils of poor leadership has led to a terrible year for the Oklahoma legislature. When the majority of legislators chose to violate the state constitution, they cost the Oklahoma taxpayer vast sums of wasted money on two special sessions. Sadly they cost the state some of our best public servants. Many have chosen to depart the state government before their term limits. Today, John Bennett & Elise Hall added their names to that list. For Bennett, it was too taxing on his family. Bennett's district is near the Arkansas state line. He and Rick West both quit because the dysfunctional process has wasted too much of their families' time and to top it off, the state decided to cut their pay beginning next year. | Many other elected officials took a huge financial loss due to special sessions. Here's a list of those who have decided to end their service. Several more could join this group as we go through the election cycle with the toll it adds to the lawmaker's family and income-earning time. | It's worth noting that 18 additional legislators were term-limited this year (12 house members & 6 senators) |
