Oklahoma's economy is every socialist's worst electoral nightmare. Just when liberals desperately try to sell the voters a prescription for more govt. intervention and welfare spending, the jobs are so plentiful that employers are paying wages and incentives they never expected to offer. The pessimists in who ruled the last few legislative sessions did succeed in finally raising massive new taxes, based on old recession era economic forecasts. But the visionaries who refused to support the highest tax hike in state history ended up being accurate in the predictions that Oklahoma will have a record surplus even without the $500 million in new taxes imposed on Oklahoma's job creators. State Treasurer, Ken Miller released his latest economic report, showing that August & September were huge months for the Oklahoma economy. Double digit growth and employment rates of over 96% are terrible news for liberals in both the Democrat & Republican party (oh yes! there are several liberal Republicans). Can Drew Edmondson and his fellow liberals compete during these boom days? Only if he and his allies can sell us heavy doses of class envy, financial fears, and fake shame about fake crises. |
"Gross revenue totals $12.4 billion from the past 12 months.
That is $1.3 billion, or 11.9 percent, more than collections from the previous 12 months. "
- Ken Miller, Oklahoma State Treasurer

The goal of big-govt liberals is always to make not only the poor, but also the middle class, to be more & more dependent upon a bigger govt. To that end, the liberals are pitching more & more give-aways but declaring them to be newly discovered "rights".
There is another group of liberals who do not appeal to fear. They openly declare that even in abundance there should be a redistribution of our wealth. They will point to the good economy as "all the more reason" to grow govt. and give away even more stuff. these are the same liberals who convinced the legislature to give about 16% of our state budget to rich people who wish to send their kids state colleges at the expense of the working poor and middle class. At least our federal govt. puts a means test of higher education funding for young adults.
Constitutional analyst Ben Shapiro recently told a large group of young voters that our nation was founded upon a certainty that mankind should be free and our rights should require nothing from anyone else to provide these rights for us. Our free speech, self defense, privacy, mobility, associations, and many other fundamental rights simply require that the govt. get out of our way. But liberals now declare healthcare, college education, food, shelter, communications, and other gimmicks. But those aren't rights at all. They are free stuff paid for and provided by others, but compulsion.
Will Oklahoma's surplus tax collections be refunded back to the taxpayers?
Get real! Politicians of all stripes can't resist using our own wealth to buy our votes. There will be massive lines of lobbyists coming to our state capitol this next February, to sell us boondoggle projects and shiny new toys. These people will get rich at the expense of the poor & working class who still have to pay the state upwards of 10% duty on their grocery budget.
Several new legislators will continue the drumbeat for even more taxes. Stan May defeated conservative Mike Ritze for the Broken Arrow House seat, last August. May told KFAQ radio listeners that he wants to apply our state & local sales taxes to things like medical crises, auto repairs, plumbing disasters, home fires, and any other calamity where citizens need professional services in their desperate quest to be made whole.
Attorney fees, and daycare services will also be levied to nearly 10% more, if May can convince enough people to support a sales tax on all services.
