Many Oklahomans are surprised to find relief from their chronic conditions even without a Medical Marijuana Patient Card. Just 6 years ago there was a 5 year felony sentence staring in the face of any Oklahoman caught with CBD oil. Today that 'old medicine' is available without a prescription or even a physician's directive. It took the heartbreaking stories of young children suffering chronic seizures to convince Gov. Fallen that her public policy must be changed. The reforms passed in recent years have opened new markets and spurred new research into viable products. One such product developed in Colorado is marketed as "Charlotte's Web". It was named for a young girl whose life was transformed by the medical innovation. But the reality is that Charlotte's Web isn't even a Marijuana Medicine. In fact, it's an industrial Hemp extract with less than trace amounts of THC (the psychoactive element in cannabis which can produce a 'high'). There are nearly as many specific products as there are health conditions effectively treated by them. The industry has had to provide their own training because our universities have almost completely ignored this science. In fact, shortly after the State Board of Health's ill-fated plot to require pharmacists licenses at all dispensaries, I asked my own pharmacist what training she had? |
"None." she answered. "Not for my license nor in all of my college classes". She added that the local 'head shop' is more knowledgeable in cannabis medicines than she is. The Dispensaries are now establishing their own standards in preparations for the first crops of Oklahoma Cannabis. But some national companies are also providing their training, especially for the CBD oils which have been legal and marketed in Oklahoma for 5 years. The reality is that there may be an effective naturopathic medicine for thousands of Oklahomans currently suffering and addicted to prescription narcotics. As the spectrum of cannabis medicine multiplies by ten-fold, more and more people will visit a CBD shop and get a simple medicine that they could have gotten legally more than 5 years ago. | Here's a video excerpt from Kelsey Impicciche of Buzz Feed Blue. She tells her personal deadly struggle with chronic pain, and how she found her ideal treatment at a CBD shop. Kelsey documents her 5-week medical trial and shocking results.
