The man has been called "the Rock Star" by authorities like Tulsa District Attorney, Steven Kunzweiler. Former Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice, Steven Taylor, has been called out of retirement at the request of the Cleveland County District Court judge who is presiding over the docket that includes many major lawsuits involving Opioid manufacturers and distributors, and the State of Oklahoma. The matter got stickier when AG Mike Hunter 'went rogue' and devised whole new state institutions and took the hundreds of millions from one settlement to fully fund the construction, staffing, and scope of the new govt. entity. The legislature & governor had to scurry in the spring session to write & pass laws to reign in the conduct of the AG. But that seems to be falling somewhat on deaf ears at the AG's office, because another settlement of $85 million is at risk because the terms don't seem to be consistent with the new law. For this reason, Cleveland County District Court Judge, Thad Balkman, tapped the most respected jurist available. That's Steven Taylor. Taylor is the former mayor of McAlester, OK. He then was elected to the district court in Pittsburgh county. Judge Taylor presided over the famous Oklahoma City Bombing trial of Terry Nichols, from his court in McAlester. Taylor was also a Marine infantry platoon commander, and the Marine's youngest military court judge, at age 28. Read more of the case, here. |
