With Halloween fast approaching, the "culture police" at many Oklahoma colleges are publicly shaming and perhaps punishing students and faculty for their choices of costumes at social events and even in dorm life. The administration at OU added these notes:
I guess this will shut down the theatrical arts departments at the colleges, right? I mean, how can it be okay for drama students but not for all students? In the hit boradway musical, 'Hamilton', Daveed Diggs plays the role of Marquis de Lafayette. But LaFayette was not black! We all want to know what the rules are and we want to see the same rules applied to everyone, equitably. It seems that academia has created their own circular logic and witch hunt for racism. Since overt racism is so rare, these days, those race-baiters are having to employ 'microscopes' to discover and expose new cases. Hence the new term; "Micro-Aggression". The premise is that racism is still everywhere and whites are the only ones suffering this 'chronic disease'. The National Institute of scholars defines it as; 'There are so many, many cruel statements, wrong words, routine insensitivities, and degrading silences—those “brief and everyday slights, insults, indignities and denigrating messages” sent by well-intentioned members of the dominant culture. Whites are “unaware of the hidden messages being communicated,” while overtly denying that they are racists." |
