Well, the Cowboys still have a path to Omaha, but it now involves winning four games in a row to even make it to Supers. Oklahoma State fell to Duke 12-5 in the first round of the Athens Regional on Friday night in Georgia. The Pokes will play Binghamton at 11 a.m. Saturday with their season on the line. The game against the Blue Devils got away from OSU in the third, where Duke scored six runs to take a 9-0 lead. Mario Pesca got the start on the bump but lasted those three innings. According to the ESPN+ broadcast crew, Sean Youngerman was initially scheduled to start the game but is dealing with an illness. The Blue Devils plated three in the second, coming off a one-out double and a two-out single. Pesca was unlucky in that the wind messed with the ball that ended up being an RBI double. The ball just kept carrying before bouncing off the left-field wall. Duke’s lead ballooned to nine in the third thanks to three home runs and an RBI double from Duke. Pesca’s day ended having thrown 71 pitches while giving up the nine runs on nine hits while walking two, hitting one and striking out two. Brennan Phillips came out of the bullpen and put together a solid long relief outing to save some arms going into the rest of the weekend. Phillips threw five innings where he gave up three runs on three hits while walking two and striking out eight. The runs against Phillips came in the fifth. With the bases loaded Jake Hyde looped a ball into shallow left. Garrett Shull ran up and made a diving attempt at it, but it got past him, allowing the three runs to score. The Cowboys’ runs came exclusively off the long ball. Kollin Ritchie got the Cowboys on the board in the fifth with a home run to right that cleared the scoreboard at Foley Field. Shull then hit a ball over the trees beyond the left-field fence in the sixth. Ian Daugherty got in on the fun in the eighth with a homer into those trees. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, all three of those were solo shots. Brock Thompson hit a two-run homer later in the eighth to break the solo streak. Despite the seven-run deficit, the Cowboys had chances to keep up in the track meet. Before Duke’s six-run bottom of the third, the Cowboys had the bases loaded in the top of the third, but Jayson Jones struck out attempting to check his swing. OSU had the bases loaded again in the seventh, this time with one out. But Colin Brueggemann grounded into a double play to end the inning. In total, the Cowboys left nine runners on base and were 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. OSU was just 6-for-32 (.188) at the plate in the game. So, the Cowboys will play Binghamton on Saturday. The Bearcats lost to Georgia 20-4 in their opening game. Should the Cowboys win that, they’d play the loser of Duke and Georgia on Sunday with a spot in the Regional final on the line. If OSU made it to that final, the Cowboys would have to beat whichever team came out of the winner bracket twice on Monday.

The past four years have seen Putnam Science Academy win three National Prep Championships, and it looks like the Cowboys are trying to establish a pipeline with the Connecticut-based school. As part of Oklahoma State’s 2025 class, the Cowboys signed Ben Ahmed from the school. Ahmed was named MVP of Putnam’s 2025 championship run. Now, three PSA players in the 2026 class have announced OSU offers across the past few days. Adama TambedouBy the sounds of it, Tambedou is a dawg.
247Sports considers Tambedou the No. 34 power forward in the class. Along with Oklahoma State, he also has offers to Arizona State, Creighton, La Salle, St. Bonaventure and others. He plays on Puma’s Pro16 circuit with Rhode Island Elite, where he averaged 19.3 points and 15 rebounds a game in the league’s opening session.
Parrish Edmond, 2026Edmond is a bouncy 6-foot-6, often throwing down dunks with his head near the rim. OSU is his first high-major offer, but FIU, Bryant, Siena and others have also offered. He is unranked on the major recruiting services as of writing. Edmond scored 10 points in PSA’s national championship win. He plays on Nike’s EYBL circuit with City Rocks, averaging 7.6 points and 3.2 rebounds across nine EYBL games while shooting an impressive 94% from the foul line. Here are some highlights from his 2024 AAU season: Jah Hatchett, 2026As far as I can tell, Oklahoma State is Hatchett’s first offer. He’s a 5-foot-11 point guard from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Hatchett plays on the Under Armour circuit with Storm, a Grand Rapids-based program. Across seven games on that circuit, he averages 12.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.6 steals a game while shooting 32% from 3 and 82% from the charity stripe. He had a 20-point, eight-rebound performance against Team Thrill back in April, a game where he also had five assists and four steals. “My main focus is getting my team involved and playing defense,” Hatchett told Pro Insight earlier this month. “I love defense, so I always try to set the tone with defense.” Although Hatchett might be what some would consider undersized, OSU coach Steve Lutz has proven in the short time he has been in Stillwater that the can overlook height for a defensive bulldog. Arturo Dean started 21 games for the Cowboys this past season at 5-11.

National championships are beginning to become something of a routine for Oklahoma State men’s golf. On Wednesday, the Cowboys joined Texas as the only program in the nation to win three championships since 2006 (Oklahoma State also won the title in 2018). Texas and Alabama each did so four times, while Stanford finished inside the top two three times. On Thursday, the Golf Coaches Association of America honored OSU sophomores Preston Stout and Ethan Fang as First-Team All-Americans. It’s another big weekend for the current and future of the Oklahoma State wrestling program, as young grapplers from all around the country will convene in Geneva, Ohio for the U20 World Team Trials and U23 Nationals. It’s a three-day event, held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Spire Academy. Without further ado, here is a look at Cowboys and future Cowboys who have registered, according to Flo. OSU put out a list earlier Thursday that didn’t feature some names the Flo’s registration list did feature, so some of these guys might end up not going. U20
U23
Starting with the U20s, each weight has its respective U.S. Open champ waiting in the finals for a best-of-three series against whichever wrestler comes out of the bracket. The winner of the best-of-three earns the right to represent the United States at the U20 World Championships on Aug. 18-24 in Sofia, Bulgaria. As for the U23s, the World Team spot goes to Senior National Team members at a given weight, but if that weight doesn’t have an age-eligible wrestler, the winner here will represent Team USA. Superstar OSU commit Jax Forrest, for example, has a spot on the U23 national team thanks to his senior level win at the U.S. Open. Stillwater standout LaDarion Lockett is one of those U20 wrestlers who will wait in the finals at 74 kg after he won the Open last month. The 65 kg bracket will be a fun one to watch on the U20 side. It features incoming OSU freshman Sergio Vega. Vega didn’t wrestle at the Open last month but will hop in a bracket this weekend that includes Bo Bassett, Aden Valencia, Daniel Zepeda and others battling it out for the right to wrestle Luke Stanich in the final. Cody Merrill looks to be in a good spot to be in the Cowboys’ lineup next season after redshirting this past year. Merrill made it to the finals of the Open last month but fell to Connor Mirasola, who redshirted at Penn State last season. At 125 kg, OSU commit Dreshaun Ross also made it to the U20 Open final but fell to Cole Mirasola, Connor’s twin, who also took a redshirt at Penn State last season. As for the U23s, OSU starter Tagen Jamison popped up on Flo’s registration list but wasn’t on OSU’s Thursday graphic. He hasn’t wrestled at the major freestyle events in the early part of this offseason. Brayden Thompson is also in the field at 86 kg. Thompson battled to an eighth-place finish at the Senior U.S. Open, narrowly beating teammate Jersey Robb (also wrestling this weekend) in the process. Thompson started for the Cowboys as a true freshman before redshirting this past offseason. The U20 freestyle brackets will wrestle all day Saturday. The U23s start Saturday and wrap up on Sunday. The event will be streamed on Flo.
