After a trip to West Texas, the Cowboys are set to travel up to the Sunflower State in search of their first Big 12 win since the end of the 2023 season.
Oklahoma State plays Kansas at 3 p.m. Saturday in Lawrence. Here is how we see the game playing out.
Marshall Scott
Score: Kansas 38, Oklahoma State 17
OSU Player of the Game: Trent Howland
Uniform: White (Retro Brand) — White — White
Thoughts: As of writing, OSU is a 24.5-point underdog this weekend, so while I’m not predicting to pick the Pokes to win, I am picking them to cover. I think this game could go the way of OSU’s games against Baylor and Cincy, where the Cowboys are competitive to a point before the Jayhawks pull away and keep OSU at arm’s distance.
With Rodney Fields missing last week’s game because of injury and Sesi Vailahi fumbling twice, I think it’s finally Trent Howland season.
As for the uni, OSU hasn’t gone all white this season and with two road games left, you have to thing it’s coming. The Big 12 teased its retro logo this week, which is why I’m going for a surprise Retro Brand.

Score: 42-17
OSU Player of the Game: Gavin Freeman
Uniform: Orange (Cursive) – White – Orange
Thoughts: I’d like to predict a Cowboy win but there’s been nothing that I’ve seen from this team to instill that type of confidence. That being said, I have no clue how to pick this score. But the last two Kansas game have had this score in their opponents’ favor, maybe they’ll make it three in a row. I will go with Freeman to get some YAC off a short pass or maybe on special teams.
Tyler Waldrep
Score: Kansas 31, Oklahoma State 20
OSU Player of the Game: Rodney Fields Jr.
Uniform: White (Cursive Cowboys) — White — White
Thoughts: This could push the game either direction based on KU’s mental response, but Kansas was outscored 84-34 in its last two games and hasn’t won since squeaking out a win at UCF on Oct. 4. At 4-4, the Jayhawks likely need this one to avoid missing the postseason for a second consecutive season. One reason for the dire situation? West Virginia was the only one of KU’s last six opponents who failed to score at least 20 points.
Running back Rodney Fields is off the injury report, which should lift the Cowboys’ offense. It’s a big ask based on recent history, but if both sides can play complementary football for even a quarter or two, this could get close.
