The tight end position has seen a few different forms over recent seasons in Stillwater.
Once referred to as Cowboy Backs — a tight end/fullback hybrid — many fans over recent seasons have expressed a desire for the position to be used more in the passing game.
With Oklahoma State hiring Eric Morris this offseason, we’ll see how the Cowboys’ new coach implements the position into his offense. Last season, North Texas tight end Tre Williams caught 30 passes for 375 yards and five touchdowns. The last OSU tight end to have at least 300 receiving yards in a season was Blake Jarwin back in 2016.
Let’s continue our OSU spring position previews with a look at the tight ends.

Overview
It’s sort of funny that the one returner in the tight end room was coached by Morris at North Texas.
Oscar Hammond transferred to Stillwater ahead of last season after spending 2024 in Denton, where he caught 19 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown for Morris and Co.
Outside of Hammond and Texas A&M/LSU transfer Donovan Green, this group is unproven at the FBS level.
Oregon State transfer Carson Kolb played in 16 games across the past two seasons at Oregon State but didn’t catch a pass in that time. PFF credited Kolb with a 69 run-block grade in some limited offensive snaps.
Luke Logan comes over from Memphis having not played in his two seasons with the Tigers.
Then there’s SWOSU transfer Bodie Boydstun, who walked on in Weatherford to be a quarterback in 2023 before transitioning to tight end. At the Division-II level, Boydstun caught 17 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns across the past two seasons.
Two-Deep Prediction
TE1 — Donovan Green
TE2 — Oscar Hammond
Surprise, surprise — the two guys who have caught a Division-I pass have made my projected two-deep.
Green was a blue-chip recruit in the 2022 recruiting class. The 247Sports Composite system had him as the No. 105 player in that cycle, the No. 4 tight end in the class and a Top 20 player from the state of Texas.
He initially went to Texas A&M and showed his promise as a true freshman, making four starts and playing in 10 games. In that time, he caught 22 passes for 233 yards and a pair of touchdowns. But he was unable to play in 2023 thanks to a knee injury in fall camp, and Green had some trouble breaking back into regular playing time upon his return in 2024.
He played in all 13 of LSU’s games this past season, catching two passes for 40 yards before hitting the portal again.
Hammond was a star for UCO in 2022 and 2023, earning All-MIAA honors in both seasons, where he combined to catch 58 passes for 790 yards and five scores before Morris brought him down to Denton.
Hammond was the Mean Green’s primary tight end in 2024, a year in which he caught one more pass than a freshman Wyatt Young.
However, Hammond’s first season at OSU was over before it started, as he suffered a camp injury that kept him out the whole year.
