My daughter, Piper, and I spent the morning in El Reno meeting with local elected officials, first responders, and residents impacted by the EF-3 tornado. Our prayers are with those who lost loved ones and those who remain in the hospital recovering. The state remains fully engaged in helping with the recovery, and President Trump called during our tour to share how FEMA is engaging as well to ensure this community can get back on its feet quickly. Most importantly, thank you to the local first responders who saved lives Saturday, pulling people out of the rubble and working around the clock this weekend to ensure everyone was accounted for. #OklahomaStandard via FB-RSS feed for Governor Kevin Stitt On this Memorial Day, we take time to remember the brave men and women in the military who made the ultimate sacrifice in order to protect and preserve our freedom and honor their lives of dedication for our people and country. ?? via FB-RSS feed for Governor Kevin Stitt Our team is working around the clock to monitor water levels, assess access to roads and bridge, assist in evacuations, and provide response to damage. Thank you to Secretary Tim Gatz, of Oklahoma Department of Transportation, who took a moment to speak with News 6 and provide an update on rising floodwaters in Muskogee County and the coordination going on across local, state and federal government officials. https://www.newson6.com/story/40534925/black-hawk-helicopters-on-standby-to-rescue-oklahoma-flood-victims#.XOoY1935JIE.facebook Black Hawk Helicopters On Standby To Rescue Oklahoma Flood Victims MUSKOGEE COUNTY -- National guard helicopters are on standby right now to help get people out of Muskogee County because of the rising floodwaters. Several government agencies are also monitoring the water level and Oklahoma Transportation Secretary Tim Gatz says they’re taking a very coordinate... via FB-RSS feed for Governor Kevin Stitt Below is video we took while in Wagoner County today. In the past hour, we have learned that the Corps is increasing the amount of water being released from the Keystone Dam, and they are urging more residents to evacuate. ***Please read the City of Tulsa's detailed update below*** The Army Corps announced this evening that they will increase the Keystone Dam release from 250,000 CFS to 275,000 CFS. This is due to the storms last night and the rainfall flowing into the Keystone basin. The water will steadily rise along the Arkansas River Corridor over the next 24 hours. We continue to urge residents along the river to plan for the flood of record (the worst flood in Tulsa history), which was equivalent to 305,000 CFS. You can view a map showing the projected impact of that flood here: https://okmay19flood.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=28dff3e644bd478386444e3bbc0882ea&fbclid=IwAR37Q9QJbPXU2d12zKXI9qs_2SC8VlqKVKb80Qd-qWLuywEJc2iHM_7WUv0 The levees continue to operate as designed, but this will place an even greater load on them. We encourage people living behind Levees A & B to proactively relocate. If you don’t have a place to stay, you are welcome to stay at one of the shelters being operated by the American Red Cross. You can view a map showing where the levees are here: https://www.cityoftulsa.org/…/10264/levee_street_maps1-2.pdf If you need more information on shelter locations or need a bus ride to get to them, please call 2-1-1 for more info. Below are more pictures from our time in Wagoner County today. I have declared a state of emergency for all 77 counties, and we have gone ahead and worked with the Trump administration to get FEMA engaged in 10 of those counties, to include Wagoner. Oklahomans, we have a long road to recovery ahead of us, but I know we will emerge stronger because of the #OklahomaStandard. We closed the day visiting with first responders at the Wagoner County staging area. Please keep Oklahomans in your prayers. Be a neighbor: check on the elderly, take a meal to those serving on the front lines, join a local church or an association to volunteer in your city. It appears flooding in Eastern Oklahoma could continue for another several days. |
