Is The Legislature Acting Like A School Board?

1/7/2019

Sen. JJ Dossett is showing his heavy-handed govt. lust for power.
He previously filed a bill to make possession of a personal vaporizer on any school property a statutory crime. Never mind that all public schools forbid students from possessing them, but this would apply to anyone visiting the school, including parents, delivery drivers, those attending sporting events, etc.

But this bill bans students from getting credit for taking their Am. History & Oklahoma History, if they take the class prior to the 11th grade.
What do you think of this bill?

Restoring Ex Convicts Ability Safely Ride City Bus

Sen.Paul Scott is presenting a bill which allows ex.convicts to ride in taxicabs, Ubers, City buses, and other 'bummed rides' from others.

Currently, the excon goes back to prison if someone else in the vehicle carries a firearm. It's impossible for the excon to know about these situations, but he still gets punished. SB46 fixes this one scenario, while keeping the felony ban in place, in all other restrictive statutes.

  How do you see this?

Will Legion Posts Be Tax Exempt?

Rep Sanders has a bill to give a special tax exemption to the American legion, effectively putting the group in a status similar to churches.

So we finally have a tax surplus, but instead of cutting everyone's taxes, they are using our excess confiscations to special groups.
How do you feel about it?

Bill To Open Capitol To 2nd Amendment Rights

Former Senator, Ralph Shortey was known for being armed at the capitol.

This bill will be very interesting. Freshman Sen. David Bullard wrote a bill to allow private security officers, municipal peace officers, and all citizens with valid 'carry permits' to join the legislators in carrying arms in the capitol complex.
Many current & former legislators have been 'packing' for years. But somehow the commoners are forbidden, even if they are professional public safety workers or have a protective order issued by a court.
Will the real 2nd Amendment supporters please rise & be recognized.

Tax Exemption Bill For Aquarium Facilities

1/6/2019

PictureLonnie Sims, Former mayor of Jenks, OK

Rep. Lonnie Sims has a bill to exempt the Jenks aquarium from collecting sales taxes on admissions to their facility.
Did we mention that Rep. Sims is the former mayor of Jenks? Did we mention that this aquarium is the city's top tourist destination?
this is Mr. Sims' first session as a freshman member. He holds the seat that Glen Mulready once had.

The rationale is that this institution is just as educational as a museum is (and museum admissions are tax exempt).
What seems odd is that the bill doesn't also exempt zoos and botanical gardens?

What are your thoughts?
