Rep. Justin (JJ) Humphrey offers a bit of comic relief to the Oklahoma legislature while filing a legitimate tourism strategy for the absolutely gorgeous area of Southeastern Oklahoma. The Annual Bigfoot Festival draws people who are absolutely serious about Bigfoot and they are confident of finding the creature eventually. The Winding Staircase Mountain ridges of the Ouachita's is the gateway to the heart of 'Little Dixie'. The folky culture of the people makes the area a great destination for hunting and outdoor activities. What the folks desperately need is economic development. So JJ wants to have the state wildlife agency issue licenses to hunt (actually trap) the big hairy beast of the Choctaw Nation. |
What's important to stress is that while the author is pitching this as a hunting season, it will be illegal to use firearms, archery, or other projectile weapons. After all, there are al lot of big hairy men in Eastern Oklahoma who could get hurt... Guys like Rep. Bob Ed Culver come to mind.. But traps could also seriously threaten animals and people. If JJ can get Rep. Culver to cosponsor the bill, we might actually have a new tourism antic to make money off of, and travelers can take official state licenses with them, back to Dallas, Des Moines, Detroit, & Daytona... And we'll keep the cash! |
