Another weekend morning anchor has seen the light and escaped local TV news!

Yesterday afternoon, Shelby Montgomery – a weekend anchor for KOCO Channel 5 – announced on Facebook that she’s not renewing her contract with the OKC ABC affiliate and is apparently saying goodbye to the long hours and low pay of the TV news field.

Myles to Go: County Commish Forgets How To Spell Own Name

It looks like Oklahoma County Commissioner Myles – or maybe it’s Miles – Davidson should expand his use of ChatGPT!

Earlier this month, we wrote an article lampooning the Commissioner for copying and pasting generic AI content onto social media and pretending they were his own words.

Real Oklahoma Cookin: Wild Onions and Scrambled Eggs

In all my attempts to recreate recipes found in Oklahoma cookbooks – from the Pioneer Women's "Egg in Hole" to Chuck Norris’s "White Enchiladas" to Conway Twitty's pineapple-laden "Twitty Burger," I've never been scared to fail at recreating a recipe.

Until now.

City IT Guy Moonlights as Hate Church Pastor

We’d like to wish an early happy PRIDE Month to Oklahoma City IT help desk employee Dillon Awes!

While your friends will soon be out and about in the gayborhood at 39th and Penn partying like you’re in a fabulously modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah, he’ll be cowering in the corner of a room with his head under the bed like a timid dog on the 4th of July—shaking in fear, panting in paranoia, and reminding everyone why we need a PRIDE Month.

Mayor McSelfie stood on a bar in NYC again

In case you missed it, Mayor McSelfie – the STEVE HOLT! of Oklahoma politics – returned to the same New York City bar last night where he ditched the city council, climbed on a bar, and—after making sure the cameras were rolling—led a scrawny, high-pitched cheer for the Thunder.

We know this because the cell phone cameras were rolling… again.

Painting the Town: The Primary Colors of the 48th Paseo Arts Festival

After three years of missed medical cues, mental fog, and living in the tiniest town within shouting distance of Oklahoma City, I finally had the strength—and social stamina—to mix it up with the public again.

So, with my beloved wife by my side, I set aside my stroke-related fears, took baby steps back into the world, and hit up the 48th Paseo Arts Festival—eager to show her the Oklahoma City I grew up with, the one that had been cruelly taken from me these past three years.

You’re welcome.

Stitt Quietly Signs Bill to Kill Oklahomas Citizen Petitions

On Saturday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend – always a good time to sign incredibly unpopular legislation to roll back the rights and freedoms of the people and derail their ability to self-govern – Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt happily and quietly signed SB 1027 into law.

Known around here as the Oklahoma Citizen Petition Oppression Act, the controversial piece of legislation will make it even more difficult, if not impossible, for any group to gather enough signatures to put a petition initiative on the Oklahoma ballot and up for a statewide vote.

Holy Rolled: US Supreme Court blocks Stitt and Walters attempt to launch taxpayer-funded Catholic school

I guess even the almighty and powerful God is against taxpayer funding of religious schools.

Earlier today, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit – which I’ve heard may all be the same thing – used their divine powers to help Chief Justice John Roberts see the light and cast a deciding vote that upholds the Oklahoma Supreme Court’s decision to block the formation of the St. Isidore Public Schools.

10 Oklahoma Lawmakers in Dire Need of a Free Makeover

Not content with only facing the ire of firemen, teachers, and mammogram technicians, Kevin Stitt is now trying to alienate workers in yet another beloved profession — cosmetology.

Earlier this legislative session, our esteemed Governor Stitt – or as eyebrow waxers call him, Public Enemy Number 1 – vetoed a bill that would have extended the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering, a.k.a. the agency responsible for regulating, licensing, and protecting the public from rogue nail techs, jailhouse barbers, and folks who learned how to do Brazilian waxes on YouTube.

TLO Restaurant Review: Lorena

After my recent dalliance with the great Southern Louisiana food that I fell in love with, I had to get back to the town I love like and the daily grind of life as a small-time food critic with a moderate appetite and more moderate readership.

Looking through my restaurant recommendations, I recently heard about the non-traditional traditional Okie dining at the new Midtown restaurant Lorena, 1207 N. Walker Ave.
