Storme Jones lands in Cleveland County

9/30/2024

Earlier this month, we were first on the scene and on the story to report that Storme Jones – the once-rising reporter, anchor, and good Samaritan for News 9 – parted ways with the locally owned news channel.

According to the Ogle Mole Network, things between Storme and News 9 had gone sideways like a heavy rain since his lateral-at-best move from the morning couch to the afternoon anchor desk. As a result, Storme asked to be released from his contract, and the channel happily obliged.

Pour a little Lost Lake out for a homie.

Last night, Oklahoma Tourism Director Shelley Zumwalt – the hip, stylish, and occasionally ageist state bureaucrat who rapidly rose through the ranks of Oklahoma government under the Stitt regime – announced her "retirement" from state government.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve noticed a steady stream of Oklahoma’s new socialism MAGA wing-ding license plates appearing across our state’s roadways.

In case you forgot what it looks like, here’s a reminder:

The Taco Truck Chronicles:The Mexican/Honduran Connection

9/26/2024

During my Taco Truck Chronicles voyages, I make it my mission to seek out, identify, and—most importantly—taste my way through as many food truck menus as possible, many of which proudly feature the rich, bold flavors of Mexican cuisine. However, every so often, I stumble upon a culinary revelation so exciting, so deliciously unexpected, that I simply can’t wait to share it with the world.

In this installment of the Chronicles, during a flavorful trek down NW 23rd between Meridian and MacArthur, I stumbled upon not one, but two taco trucks proudly flying the Honduran flag. With them came an array of delectable—and delightfully affordable—dishes that beckoned me with their irresistible aromas. These trucks were doing glorious, blush-worthy things with plantains, baleadas, and chimol that made me calorically blush at the mere mention.

Of course, I also found two other trucks on my trek that served up delicious Mexican cuisine. They're all part of Oklahoma City’s incredible taco truck community, one that always astounds me with its sheer variety of tastes.

It’s time to add another loss to Ryan Walters’ impressive run of legal defeats!

Yesterday afternoon, U.S. District Court Judge Bernard Jones granted KFOR a “temporary injunction” in their free speech lawsuit against the OSDE and its tubby propaganda chief, Dan Isett.

Racist Tishomingo Students Go Viral for Moronic Scrabble Stunt

Racism in Oklahoma schools is, once again, showing its ugly head.

Last week, a photo showing six Tishomingo high school students with Scrabble letters taped to their shirts as part of some brainless “Homecoming Spirit Week” activity went viral online, and has since hit the mainstream and tabloid news-sphere.

The idea is that students wear the letters, gather with their friends to spell words or phrases like "Go Team," and then pose for a photo. What a fun, swell, and totally innocuous idea, right?

TLO Restaurant Review: Taqueria El Rey Family Restaurant #4

On the morning of my 46th birthday, I decided I wanted a good, hearty Mexican breakfast—the kind where, instead of being expensive and upscale, you can practically lick the grease off the griddle.

I turned to my girlfriend and said, “Let’s go to El Rey.”

Well, So much for Ryan Walters' efforts to keep gay porn out of schools!

Late last week, an obscure local right-wing blog out of Texas reported that Corey A. DeAngelis – a Texas-based school privatization “evangelist” who has rubbed a lot of elbows, and possibly other things, in right-wing Oklahoma political circles the past few years – secretly performed in gay porn in 2014 under the name "Seth Rose."

Tossed and Turned: New Salad and Go on N. May Built Backwards!

Yesterday afternoon, I got a tip via The Ogle Mole Network asking if I was aware that the new Souper Salad on N. May Ave. was built backwards and, as a result, wasn’t going to open anytime soon.

I was a bit confused.
