A $3.6 million bronze monument is set to be installed in Downtown Oklahoma City depicting the 13 black children who participated in the first Katz Drug Store sit-in led by Luper.

As we were first to report way back in March of 2021, Temple Live has developed renderings and plans to convert the structure with a main stage in the center, floor viewing areas, and a second level that would provide seated and standing views.

Renderings also show a new covered 2-level patio.

Here at OKCTalk, we cover hundreds of local restaurants. But we also get a lot of questions about chains, so we will continue to cover both.

Bojangles Chicken has filed plans to build a free-standing store at 13135 N. Penn, just south of Del Taco and in front of the new Dick’s House of Sport. The chain had previously announced plans to come to Oklahoma within Love’s Travel Stops, but then that deal fell through. The OKC location would be the first in the state of Bojangles and there will likely be more to come.

The sprawling former Nuway cleaners property at N. Western and Linwood is in the process of being demolished.

Originally constructed in 1919, the complex saw many expansions and additions culminating in over 77,000 square feet. It was purchased by Love Link in 2005 to expand the nonprofit's ministries as they added a food pantry and thrift store.

In 2021, Shyon Keoppel and Millennial Capital purchased the property and announced plans for extensive renovations which never materialized.
