Jeremy Lin took to social media to address and condemn the rise of anti-Asian attacks in the U.S. The Santa Cruz Warriors guard says he and other Asian Americans are ‘tired of being told’ they don’t experience racism. The Taiwanese American player also called out racist depictions of Asians in media and the racism that Asian American children face growing up. 'We are tired of being invisible, of being mistaken for our colleague, or told our struggles aren’t as real,’ said Lin. Lin also brought attention to the 2,800+ anti-Asian hate crimes that nonprofit Stop AAPI Hate has tracked since March 2020.

In recent weeks, there have been a series of hate crimes, robberies, and assaults against Asians and Asian Americans. Many of these violent attacks have occurred in the California Bay Area, sparking local citizen initiatives to patrol neighborhoods and provide chaperone services for older adults. AAPI activist groups have also held anti-racism rallies and marches in response to the uptick in violence against Asians in the U.S.
