Mpls Democrats have had every opportunity to fix bigotry in city govt. To no one's surprise, a big leftist American city has some bigots in power. It's not like those bigots were already there when the Democrats took over. Mpls has always been leftist & very Democrat. The Minnesota DFL (Democrat Farmer-Labor) party has some 'splain'n to do. The unionized police force is furious at the mayor's office. They've been fighting for years over policies which have 'handcuffed' the cops and let criminals of certain ethnicities 'skate'. When your arrest quota if full up on one ethnicity, how do you protect a neighborhood from one of their own who's gone bad? And do you get in trouble for using the term 'gone bad'? The political correctness is run amuck. Group-think owns the culture and the penalties for dissent are merciless. George Floyd & his girlfriend needed a truly integrated community. Mpls failed to be that city, for them. |
I've known Minnesota quite well. I've known this part of Minneapolis very well. I was a pastor & school teacher in Precinct 3. I grew up in DFL politics. I have relatives in positions of political appointment. Honest partisan activists at both ends of the political spectrum know that exploiting issues for political gain is a well-crafted art. My leftist cousin and I were walking through the cemetery just after laying my father to rest. He was a congressional staffer. He asked me when I was going to return to the Democrat party? I said; "Not as long as they keep defending the killing of unborn babies." He immediately responded; "Dave, the Republicans will never allow Abortion to end. they raise too much money off of it and get elected because of it." I stopped dead in my tracks. He stopped with me and we looked each other in the eye.. "I'm so disgusted" I said, "Because I know you're right about that." But we don't know if Police Officer Derek Chauvin only abuses certain ethnicities. The prevalent problem of cops is that they abuse the 'poor & unimportant' of every segment of society. Just as there exists a 'god complex' in the medical community; some cops love the power that their uniform gives them. Some sick minds find pleasure in exploiting that power. If we're really going to fix the bigger & more systemic problem, all the poor and disconnected are going to have to band together. But they will face a state prosecutor's network who are perhaps equally infected with this bias toward power & disconnected people. Don't wait for politicians to champion the cause, because the poor don't donate enough money to make it worth their while. | In the same way, Democrats will never allow racism to end. It's too lucrative for them. But this time they can't point the finger at Rural Georgia, or Dallas. The murder of George Floyd happened in a city that Democrats have tightly controlled for the past century.
Now, before my Republican and right-leaning friends get too self righteous; I have to say that the GOP has their own issues which they will never allow to be fixed. Republican presidents have appointed judges and bureaucrats who have kept the problems of denied constitutional liberties in play. Bush41 celebrated openly that he "has no idea how Justice Souer will rule on a right to life for the unborn baby. Justices O'Conner, Roberts and Kennedy were (and are) similar disappointments by Republican presidents whose duty is to know a justice's constitutional fitness before appointing them. Bigots are still around, and they find their way into all political organizations & movements. It's naive to assume otherwise. Their bigotry attaches itself to many cultural & ethnic matters. And even religion, itself. By denying it's existence, we allow it to incubate into a Mpls race riot. |
