The Kanye West presidential campaign was real. He'd hired a competent team of organizers and legal staff. But the clock had already run out. Even the expert, Steve Kramer, could not turn back the clock to meet the deadlines which passed many weeks ago. Just 10 days ago, the energy was high and the 180 or so who were tapped to mobilize a national movement, are gone home. And then there's the real concern about the psyche of Kanye's motivation. The brilliant mind of this artist & businessman has a history of transcending into the manic realm. He's been through many efforts to manage and stabilize his mental energy and keep it productive and sensible. If this was a manifestation of mania, no one is going on the record to impugn West's motivation. West is, by all accounts, a cultural icon and global influencer. He just didn't understand the complexity of the political mess. He's not the first independent candidate to get hit by the immovable wall of resistance to populist insurgencies. West can and probably will be a force in 2024 political discussions. But the only way he will be a candidate in 2020, is if the Democrats or Republicans draft him as their own nominee. |
