Last week’s presentation from Javier Milei (Argentina), Tucker Carlson, Wade Burleson, Scott Hasson, and Senator Shane Jett painted for us the grim picture of the way socialism destroys economies and people wherever it travels.

The meeting was stunning because Argentina’s socialist past is a mirror image of America’s current pathway to the proximate future.

Whether it is called Maoist, Marxist, or Stalinist . . . Leftist dogma contains an unchanging message. No matter what language is used, no matter the nationality of the people being addressed, nor the physical geography at hand . . . the message and the devastation that follows a socialist conquest remains ideologically and consequentially fixed.

Earlier this month, OCPAC Foundation Board Chairman, Wade Burleson, exposed those Marxist realities in my own alma mater, Indiana University (IU). Wade quoted an article from a frequent student contributor to the campus newspaper, the Indiana Daily Student.

Jared Quigg is an IU senior majoring in journalism. On January 4, 2024, Jared published a list of his top six most important books he thinks the youth of the Hoosier state’s flagship university should read. (No disrespect intended to either Notre Dame or Purdue.) Quigg’s recommended reading is a list of leftists including Lenin, Marx, and other communist ideologues.

Here are three of them he listed:

Quigg is one of IU’s committed student Marxists. He quotes freely from Howard Zinn, the discredited Leftist author of “A People’s History of the United States” and refers to himself as a fellow comrade with Marxist leaders.

Wade’s discovery of what has been a sustained series of communist editorials in the Indiana University student paper drew my attention to an article which appeared five years ago during the IU Bicentennial celebrations. It was titled:

Reds Among the Cream and Crimson

In 1946, three IU law school faculty members—Dean Bernard Gavit, Professor Fowler Harper, and Associate Professor Howard Mann—signed a petition to include the Communist Party on the state ballot.

As a result, in August of 1946, angry letters from Indiana citizens arrived in the office of IU President Herman B Wells. He had a problem on his hands.

ONE ANGRY CITIZEN WROTE THIS:

Take steps to fire the Reds connected with your school system. If they can’t find another position, Joe Stalin will welcome them with open arms. Gavit, Harper, and Mann, must go.

Wells filed away the angry letters into his folder “Letters of Complaints and Criticisms.” He would soon need more than 25 folders to house his IU Communist Investigation records.

Throughout the fall of 1946, records were compiled.

Twenty-nine witnesses testified and 400 pages

of documentation were recorded.

Testimony from The American Legion State Commander W. I. Brunton went like this:

The American Legion does not subscribe to a theory that the ugly head of communism can be crushed in this country by ignoring its presence like an ostrich hides its head in the sand. Neither does The American Legion subscribe to a theory that communists should be placed on the ballot in order that we may know their strength. We of The American Legion are not interested in taking a census of rattlesnakes.

William Sayer, The American Legion’s state adjutant, suggested the professors wanted to be agitators since the Communist Party “attempts to cause trouble between the negro race and the white race …”

And now, nearly 80 years later, the IU student paper

is publishing articles promoting communism.

Socialism is a cancer which has corroded societies the world over. None more violently than in the century we just left. And none more representative of the clear and present danger we are battling in Oklahoma’s educational institutions today.

You will be privileged to meet and hear a leading national spokeswoman for this fight, Xi Van Fleet. She grew up in the midst of the violence of the Maoist cultural revolution and its enforcement by the Red Guards.

Make plans to come to the Oklahoma History Center next week on Wednesday, January 24 at noon.

Marx meets Milei

This Wednesday, by video, we will hear Tucker Carlson detail the reversal of Argentina’s once wealthy and prosperous nation to third-world status. We will then see his interview with Argentina’s new President, Javier Milei.

Leftist (Marxist) ideology brought poverty to this once prosperous nation. The bold anti-leftist policies of the out-spoken Javier Milei are restoring life to Argentina.

Last week, our foundation’s Board Chairman, Wade Burleson, introduced me to the anti-leftist works of Erik von Kuennelt-Leddihn. His last name is pronounced “coon’ et-lead ‘n.”

He is a Catholic academic who addressed with profound insight the destructive nature of the political left.

For simplicity, I’ll refer to him as “Leddihn.” He assaults the evils of leftism skill and finesse in his 1974 book, Leftism.

(If purchasing this book, don't confuse it with his 1990 book,

Leftism Revisited. All his books are brilliant, however.)

He speaks of the threat to the modern world which emanates from leftist ideology. Something he calls the multiheaded enemy of mankind.

Among the tools of the left, Leddihn notes that envy is one of its most destructive. It is the classic foundation of the Marxist assault on societies.

Envy in politics is the idea that

differences must be leveled.

The results of our differences in aptitudes, abilities, skills, motivations, perspectives, and achievements need to be leveled so that we all receive the same outcomes.

Envy says that if someone other than me possesses something I admire, it was somehow stolen from me (and should be returned).

As Herbert Schlossberg wrote in his 1990 magnum opus, Idols for Destruction:

The dual effort to raise the lower classes and debase the higher has long been called “leveling.” In recent years, it has grown into the movement with the awkward name of equalitarianism (often used in the French form, egalitarianism). Equality of opportunity, however, guarantees inequity of result! People are unequal in motivation, ability, and will. Their values are so varied that they direct their energies toward different goals.

As Leddihn stated:

Modern times are more favorable to a herd mentality than to an enthusiasm for diversity. All modern trends point to the specter of a terrifying, bigger, and more pitiless conformity.

This egalitarian ideology is achieved only by the force of a tyrannical government. For entrenched tyrannies, education has been the tool of force. Lenin, Hitler, and Mao all recognized the need for the children to be educated by government schools and not by their parents.

Leddihn states:

Egalitarianism cannot make much progress without the use of force: Perfect equality, naturally, is only possible in total slavery.

PROCRUSTES IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY IS

A FORERUNNER OF MODERN TYRANNY

Procrustes is a character in Greek mythology. He had a stronghold on Mount Korydallos. There he had a bed, in which he invited every passer-by to spend the night.

If the guest proved too tall, Procrustes would amputate the excess length. If the guest was too short, Procrustes would stretch them until they died.

Nobody ever naturally fit the bed exactly, but Procrustes demanded that all fit his pre-determined mold.

The evil Procrustes demanded sameness.

He required all to fit his mold.

He forced them to fit.

All died.

Procrustes continued his reign of terror until he was captured by Theseus. Traveling to Athens along the sacred way, Theseus returned the favor and "fitted" Procrustes to his own bed, ending the reign of terror.

Procrustes is the forerunner of modern tyranny.

Force destroys Freedom.

In his book, The Crisis of Modernity, Italian philosopher Augusto Del Noce (pronounced "NO-ch-ay") notes that the editor of the French Magazine, Esprit, conceded the fatal results of Marxism when he stated:

It is now unquestionable that Communists have become accomplices and victims of an empire that destroys spiritual freedom and puts nations in chains.

On June 24, 1826, Thomas Jefferson, almost twenty years after leaving office, composed the last letter he would ever write. His health was failing.

He wrote the letter in response to an invitation from Roger C. Weightman to speak in Washington, D.C. The nation was celebrating the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Jefferson was its primary

author and one of 56 signers.

The letter expresses his regrets that he will not have one last opportunity to see the few signers (he calls them “worthies”) who remain alive. Men who risked their lives, fortunes, and reputations to lay the political foundations of freedom. 

With extraordinary grace, he declined to speak, but wrote, among other things, these words which should inspire us today:

I should, indeed, with peculiar delight, have met and exchanged there, congratulations personally with the small band, the remnant of a host of worthies, who joined with us on that day, in the bold and doubtful election we were about to make, for our country, between submission, or the sword; and to have enjoyed with them the consolatory fact that our fellow citizens, after half a century of experience and prosperity, continue to approve the choice we made. May it be to the world what I believe it will be . . . the Signal of arousing men to burst the chains, under which monkish ignorance and superstition had persuaded them to bind themselves, and to assume the blessings and security of self-government . . . All eyes are opened . . . the mass of mankind has not been born, with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them . . . These are grounds of hope for others.

Argentina is headed in Jefferson’s direction!

Among the many statements Argentina’s new president makes is his unwavering perception that leftism can only bankrupt a people. President Milei states that leftism does not “fix” poverty. Leftism insures poverty!

A note from

1984

One hundred twenty years ago (1903), Eric Arthur Blair was born in Bihar, India to an English family. A year later, his mother left for England taking Eric with her. Once Eric turned thirty, he adopted the pen-name George Orwell.

This past weekend, our foundation’s Chairman, Wade Burleson, published an article itemizing the notable mirror images of Orwell’s 1984 reflected in American academia, journalism, and politics as we enter 2024.

Like Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, Orwell’s 1984 was written at the end of the author's life. He knew he was dying. As if struggling with his last breath to save mankind, he wrote what the atheist Christopher Hitchens described as:

A deadly satire on the illusion of Soviet Communism.

Orwell’s declining health made

writing 1984 a race against time.

Orwell would give us terms like Thought Police, Doublethink, Newspeak, freedom is slavery, Big Brother, and, borrowing from Dostoevsky’s Notes from the Underground, 2+2=5.

We call the nations who are culturally infected with these cancers Orwellian. With these come societies marked by censorship, force, and cruelty.

1984 is the most banned book all time

It has been banned in places like the Soviet Union. Books are banned by tyrants who want their elitist propaganda to remain unsoiled.

Finding someone willing to publish 1984 was difficult. Finally, Harcourt, Inc. was found. The book was published in 1949. Orwell died the next year.

The novel 1984 describes life in a nation ruled by tyranny. Orwell’s name for his “fictitious” nation is Oceana. It was not actually so fictitious!

Here are a few excerpts:

Collectively, the Party owns everything in Oceana. Factories, mines, land, houses, transport – everything had been taken away from them. These things were no longer private property.

The most gifted among them, who might possibly become nuclei of discontent, are simply marked down by the Thought Police and eliminated.

From the proletarians nothing is to be feared. they could only become dangerous if the advance of industrial technique made it necessary to educate them more highly.

Oceanic society rests ultimately on the belief that Big Brother is omnipotent and that the Party is infallible. But since in reality Big Brother is not omnipotent and the Party is not infallible, there is a need for an unwearying, moment-to-moment flexibility in the treatment of facts. The key word here is blackwhite. Like so many Newspeak words, this word has two mutually contradictory meanings. Applied to an opponent, it means the habit of impudently claiming that black is white, in contradiction of the plain facts. Applied to a Party member, it means a loyal willingness to say that black is white, and to forget that one has ever believed the contrary. This demands a continuous alteration of the past, made possible by the system of thought which really embraces all the rest, and which is known in Newspeak as Doublethink.

Even the names of the four Ministries by which we are governed exhibit a sort of impudence in their deliberate reversal of the facts. The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture, and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation. These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from ordinary hypocrisy; they are deliberate exercises in doublethink.

2024 AMERICA

Plenty of America's thought leaders are telling the nation that men can become pregnant. Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, tells us that the borders are absolutely not open.

And, we are being asked to believe the following statements from the Oval Office:

This coming year the OCPAC Foundation will address the many elements of Orwellian cancers in Oklahoma, the nation, and the world.

In January, we will address the identical nature of the woke assaults on China and Argentina and the ways in which they are indistinguishable from Oklahoma’s higher education in particular. Ideas incubated in our universities are then planted in our secondary schools.

Nationally known Xi van Fleet will be with us on January 24 to address the striking similarities she witnessed while undergoing China's Maoist Revolution and our American classrooms.

On January 10, we will air an interview with Argentina's newly elected President, Javier Milei. He will discuss the woke issues plaguing Argentina. They are identical to what we have in Oklahoma and the nation at large.

WISE MEN STILL

SEEK HIM

Several years ago, I found myself explaining to my oldest grandson how the renowned Wise Men of Matthew’s Gospel became wise. These legendary men brought a 600-year-old story to term and became a celebrated part of history’s central event.

Their wisdom was grounded in the syllabus written 600 years earlier when Nebuchadnezzar installed the prophet Daniel as headmaster of Babylon’s wise men.

The cascading empires of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream has been taught through the centuries. The dream brought Daniel front and center in the Babylonian Empire. As Joseph had done with Pharaoh a thousand years earlier in Egypt, Daniel articulated in precise detail the eschatological truth imbedded in the king’s dream.

One golden head, ten fragile toes, and all the imagery in between were kingdoms who would relinquish rule to the stone not cut with human hands. Vaunted empires would turn to dust.

Christ the Divine stone would become a great mountain and fill the earth. At the Divine advent, Rome indeed entered a stage of decline and gave way to Christendom and Western Civilization.

A couple of chapters later, King Nebuchadnezzar sent a communique regarding Christ. He announced that:

 “All peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell on the earth: Peace be multiplied to you … How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to generation.” (Daniel 4:1-3)

One of history’s early Christmas cards from one of its great leaders.

Daniel made such an impression on Nebuchadnezzar that he made Daniel “ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon.” (Daniel 2:48)

And the rest, of course, is history. The “wise men” of Babylon became schooled in the Christian eschatology Daniel provided. The foundation of Matthew 2:1 re-connects us with Daniel when it records, “Behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?’”

Of course, “he” is Jesus, the stone which would come in the midst of the Roman Empire and fill the whole earth. (Daniel 2:35)

Isaiah, writing prior to the days of Daniel, had already revealed that at the incarnation of Jesus, “the government shall be upon his shoulder … of the increase of his government … there will be no end.” (Isaiah 9:6-7)

All this builds on the promises to Abraham that “All the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him.” (Genesis18:18) The “filling the earth” portion of the divine vision to Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel was made the central focus of Christ’s instructions to the church for all ages when he told us to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matt 6:10)

It was at the core of the final commission of Christ to his people when he commissioned us to “make disciples of all nations.”

Abraham is not only the father of the church (Romans 4:16), but also the father of the nations (Romans 4:17)

This Christmas season, Handel’s Messiah is being played in concert halls all over the world. The church has been mantled to employ those cultural pathways to make disciples of all the people of the world.

Joy to the World

The world's most prolific hymn writer, Sir Isaac Watts, (1674 – 1748) gave us Joy to the World and much more.

He wrote at a time when the church held a predominately optimistic view of the future. Though that optimism dimmed after WWI, it is an optimism that was never extinguished.

Through every shadow of darkness, the world’s love of that centuries-old hymn has remained intact. Annually, in nations the world over, mankind trumpets the present reign of Christ the King as Joy to the World is sung with evangelistic vigor.

Christ is acknowledged the consummate Savior, Servant, and Sovereign as Joy to the World is sung. He is the King who heals not only our bodies, but our families, communities, and nations.

The steady growth of both the church and the divine Kingdom on earth was the Puritan hope. It is why they came to the American shore.

We persevere through both dark times and bright times knowing the King will complete His meticulous weaving of history’s tapestry.

Twenty-three years ago, we said goodby to a century possessed of a multitude of dark hours. Adding to that darkness was the slaughter of the Jewish people by the millions.

Through that darkness, the optimism of trust in a more powerful King cast light on the world.

Among the many bright lights was the work and prayers of Corrie ten Boom who smuggled close to a thousand Jews through the now famous Hiding Place in her home.

It became the inspiration for both a book and a movie.

Corrie ten Boon reminded the world that history is a blend of both the dark and the light. It includes all the many vibrant colors in between when she recited this poem:

The Season we celebrate is the divine coming of a 4,000-year-old promised seed which would crush the head of the evil one. (Genesis 3:15).

So certain is the promise that the Messianic King instructed us to pray fervently that the kingdom of God would become fully manifest on the earth (Matthew 6) and left us with one assignment: to disciple the nations. (Matthew 28)

Even in a period of ecclesiastical

darkness, Micah wrote:

The mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of mountains and peoples shall flow to it and many nations shall come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, that he may teach us his ways, that we may walk in his paths.

Formidable enemies seek to control the world and usher in the New World Order. It has been promoted by recent U.S. Presidents and funded by George Soros. We must not forget that they face the One in whom is all power and authority in both Heaven and earth.

Evil faces his earthly representatives

who are endowed with Divine authority.

We have been bequeathed that

Divine power and authority.

We have responsibilities.

Next year, we will host world-changing thought leaders. Xi Van Fleet will come in January to draw the parallels between the Maoist revolution she lived through in China and the America we live in today.

We have asked Harvard’s brilliant economist, Roland Fryer to come to Oklahoma. He was black-listed by Harvard's administration for pointing to the truth. We have asked that he come to help us revitalize our inner-city schools in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

Also, in 2024, our own Ricky Dickson, CEO of Blue Bell Creameries, will talk to us about the reign of Christ in Corporate America.

Come to the Oklahoma History Museum Wednesday for our year’s finale to hear more and to celebrate the coming of our victorious King.
