The movement to defund the police has needlessly alienated many people who care deeply about both rethinking our approach to public safety and improving the lives of those who most suffer from the scourges of high levels of crime, drug addiction, mental illness and homelessness, all of which perpetuate the poverty that helps cause them.

Clayton County, the U.S. Supreme Court held that the language of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 forbidding discrimination by employers because of an individual’s sex forbids discrimination against individuals because of their sexual orientation or transgender status.
