President Trumps Indictment

3/31/2023

Everyone who has earned a law license should be outraged over the indictment of Candidate and former-President Donald J. Trump in New York. Every American should fear for their freedom as Democrats now demonstrate a two-tier justice system of worthy of the worst Banana Republic. This is unconstitutional. This must be fixed immediately and by lawful process. The Leftists running the current government want MAGA violence. They will then use that excuse to engage the full force of all government and end freedom. Those of honor must peacefully stand in opposition.

Much more to come here on Tulsa Today. We stand in opposition!

Several members of the House and Senate today thanked State Supt. Ryan Walters and the State Board of Education for adopting rules last week that prohibit pornographic materials in schools and that reinforce parental rights.

Issuing the following statement are Reps. Chris Banning, R-Bixby; Chad Caldwell, R-Enid; Sherrie Conley. R-Newcastle; Kevin McDugle, R-Broken Arrow; and Jim Olsen, R-Roland; as well as Sens. George Burns, R-Pollard; and Sen. Warren Hamilton, R-McCurtain.

“We’re thankful the State Board of Education saw the need to protect our children from inappropriate material in our schools and through the rules have called for its removal, following through on the wishes of parents and the majority of Oklahomans. We’re equally grateful to the board for reaffirming that parents have broad and inalienable rights concerning their minor children and that these rights are reserved to parents without obstruction or interference by government entities.”

Marijuana Edibles and Kids

3/27/2023

Oklahoma voters rejected legalization of recreational marijuana (State Question 820) early this month for countless reasons. The data showed a dramatic shift from the approved 2018 medical marijuana question.

Maybe voters were overwhelmed at dispensaries on every city block or mass murder at illegal grow sites, or reports of babies eating drug infused edibles. They should be. Edible products often resemble regular treats, including gummies, chocolates, lollipops, and brownies. According to a new study published in the journal Pediatrics, the number of small children who accidentally ate marijuana edibles increased 1,375% between 2017 and 2021. It is a serious problem both rural and urban.

The effects of accidental marijuana ingestion depend on how much tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) the child consumes. THC is the main psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. In other words, it’s the ingredient that makes you feel high. Because kids weigh less than adults, they may be more vulnerable to the effects of THC.

They are also more likely than adults to ingest high amounts of THC. That’s because many edible cannabis products contain multiple adult servings of THC. For instance, a single chocolate bar may have multiple 10 mg THC servings. While a responsible adult would know to only eat one piece of chocolate at a time, a small child might eat the whole bar.

Children who ingest small amounts of THC may only experience mild effects, namely drowsiness and red eyes. Children who ingest large amounts may develop more serious symptoms, such as:

  • confusion
  • poor balance and coordination
  • nausea and vomiting
  • increased heart rate
  • trouble breathing
  • seizures

Such symptoms often lead to hospital admission. Of the 7,043 children who ingested edibles in the Pediatrics study, 22.7% were admitted to the hospital.

Children who are regularly exposed to marijuana smoke face a higher risk of memory problems and lower IQ. However, researchers have not yet determined the long-term effects of edible exposure.

What To Do If Your Child Accidentally Eats Edible Marijuana

If you think your child has ingested an edible marijuana product, try to stay calm. If your child is experiencing any physical or psychological changes, call 911 or head to the emergency room right away. If your child is not experiencing any changes, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

In either case, you will be asked how much marijuana your child consumed. To figure this out, try to remember how much product was in the package when you last saw it and how much remains. You should also check the package for information on the type and amount of THC the product contains.

How To Keep Your Child Safe

Due to the rise in accidental marijuana ingestions, many parents, caregivers, and pediatricians are urging the edible cannabis industry to use safer, child-resistant packaging.  Plain, white packages would be far less tempting to kids than the current packages, which are often colorful and sometimes identical to brand name treats. In the meantime, you can help your child avoid marijuana edibles by taking these steps:

Store Edibles Safely

Store your edibles the same way you would store any medications or other potentially dangerous substances. In other words, lock them in child-proof containers, and place them somewhere your kids can’t reach. Kids will often mimic your behavior. That’s why you should never eat edibles in front of them.

Talk To Family & Friends

In most cases of accidental marijuana ingestion, the edibles were purchased by the child’s parents. However, some kids also ingest edibles that belong to other people, including babysitters, neighbors, and relatives. Make sure all the adults and teens in your child’s life know how to prevent, identify, and respond to edible cannabis exposure.

If you or someone you love struggles with marijuana abuse, please reach out. The Ark Behavioral Health specialists provide medical detox, behavioral therapy, and other evidence-based treatments to aid recovery from drug abuse and addiction.

The Oklahoma University Health Services reports edibles are a serious risk to children, “In 2020, marijuana-related calls involving children jumped to 126 cases, up from just 13 in 2018. Reasons for the increase may be related to increased use of marijuana, people feeling more comfortable reporting adverse effects related to marijuana use or parents not storing marijuana products up and away from children.”

CareerTech student organizations growing

In a release today, Oklahoma CareerTech student organization memberships has hit an all-time high according to the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.

According to numbers collected earlier this month, 97,385 students are members of Business Professionals of America; DECA; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; FFA; HOSA; SkillsUSA; and Technology Student Association.

Individual CTSO membership numbers are BPA, 5,997; DECA, 1,555; FCCLA, 17,174; FFA, 29,240; HOSA, 6,738; SkillsUSA, 15,544; and TSA, 21,137.

Additionally, the Oklahoma chapter of National Technical Honor Society reported 3,084 members to date, although some high schools and technology centers have not yet inducted new members this year.

The seven co-curricular CTSOs allow students to learn skills outside the classroom. Students further develop technical skills they will use in their careers, said Paxton Cavin, BPA and DECA state adviser, and also learn other skills necessary for success in their lives and careers: leadership, public speaking, communication, teamwork, time management and critical thinking.

“When students join a CTSO they find a support system in the field they are interested in, opportunities to enhance their leadership skills, connections to industry both in Oklahoma and nationwide and memories to last a lifetime,” Cavin said.

Membership has grown because instructors recognize that CTSOs are an integral part of the curriculum, said Emily Goff, SkillsUSA state adviser. They help students develop skills that will help them in their future careers, she said.

“CTSOs serve as the cornerstone of cultivating tomorrow’s skilled workforce, providing students with an unparalleled platform to explore, develop and excel in their chosen career paths,” said Trevor Lucas, FFA state adviser. “Through hands-on experiences, competitive events and industry collaborations, CTSOs empower students to embrace their passions, harness their potential and ultimately contribute to a thriving, innovative economy.”

Each CTSO is affiliated with a CareerTech program: BPA, business, marketing and information technology education; DECA, marketing education; FCCLA, family and consumer sciences education; FFA, agricultural education; HOSA, health careers education; SkillsUSA, trade and industrial education; and TSA, science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.

NTHS honors excellence in workforce education; students must meet national and local criteria and be invited to join a local chapter.

“CTSOs provide opportunities for students to improve leadership skills, career awareness, decision-making and occupational skills,” said Brent Haken, Oklahoma CareerTech state director. “These students are learning beyond the classroom and preparing for success in the workplace, in education and in life.”

The Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education provides leadership and resources and assures standards of excellence for a comprehensive statewide system of career and technology education. The system offers programs and services in 29 technology center districts operating on 60 campuses, 391 PK-12 school districts, 15 Skills Centers campuses that include three juvenile facilities and 32 adult education and family literacy providers.

The agency is governed by the State Board of Career and Technology Education and works closely with the State Department of Education and the State Regents for Higher Education to provide a seamless educational system for all Oklahomans.

Tulsa GOP Endorsements

Editorial: Saturday the Republican Party of Tulsa County will convene to select new leadership. This writer has posted a series on Substack, an email based publication but Tulsa Today Republican Readers should also know the latest.

Jackson Lahmeyer wrote to Tulsa County supporters Thursday providing endorsements in this Saturday’s Tulsa County Republican Party leadership elections. In a follow-up text to this reporter, Lahmeyer added, “My objective was to end Bob Jack’s corrupt reign at the Tulsa GOP as he is the puppet master currently, therefore, we need outsiders who will not do Bob Jack’s bidding.”

Jackson Lahmeyer campaigned for Oklahoma’s U.S. Senate seat contesting incumbent Sen. James Lankford. His success in that effort shocked Oklahoma’s political establishment but failed to win the majority. Lahmeyer continues to this day supporting 2024 Candidate and former-President Donald J. Trump with his nationwide “Pastors For Trump” organization recently with a National Prayer Call.

Lahmeyer’s email to Tulsa County GOP delegates said in part, “Let me begin by saying that in my 15 months of running for the US Senate here in Oklahoma, I was invited to speak at every county GOP except the Tulsa County GOP. Which was fine, because I held rallies in Tulsa with Mayor Rudy Guiliani, General Michael Flynn, Roger Stone, Sebastian Gorka and others that drew crowds the Tulsa GOP could never come close to.

“I would have thought though that the toughest county in Oklahoma that I would face in my run would have been Oklahoma Country (OKC), but to my shock the Chairman Ken Warner was very warm and even took tremendous heat for being a large donor to my campaign. I appreciated the courage and integrity of Ken Warner and his willingness to take a stand.

“However, there was no county GOP in Oklahoma that I found to be more corrupt and dysfunctional than the Tulsa County GOP but… that can change on Saturday,” Lahmeyer wrote.

As the longest attending Tulsa GOP Convention participant and in the spirit of full disclosure, this writer confesses to having rotated inside and outside of leadership circles often. The most GOP fun enjoyed was when the party helped sponsor a “Gridiron” style show I produced at the Tulsa Civic Center called, “The Oklahoma Boast and Roast – Serving Hot left Wings and Donkey Toast.”

I was the Communications Chairman for the Tulsa GOP appointed by Chairman David McLain who I did not support in his race for State GOP Chair – by then I had learned McLain tells everyone whatever he thinks they want to hear. At the 2018 GOP State Fair Booth, it was my idea to stage a wall display that drove Democrat activists and establishment media crazy. Ronda Vuillemont-Smith and her husband built the display (yes, we worked together) after the fair committee approved it. Smith claimed credit for the display to win election as party leader. She also later pathetically mimicked a brochure I wrote and produced titled, “Back to Basics” and I was the spokesperson for dozens of media interviews during the fair – one of which was discussed on a national Fox News Saturday morning show.

Ronda Vuillemont-Smith further lied to win election as she disrupted her main opponent with the assertion that he supported national public vote rather than the electoral college. He did not, but Smith’s cult of personality (Tulsa 9/12 Project) minions were so brainwashed one went up to Darren Gantz declaring to him the evil of Darren Gantz – she didn’t even recognize him. I wrote on the 2021 Tulsa GOP Convention in detail July 26, 2022, in Chair Smith’s mid-term in the hope of change that never came.

In summary, the Tulsa County GOP has been run by Ronda Vuillemont-Smith and Bob Jack as an exclusionary organization – those that “goose-step” are welcome but those that may disagree with any policy to any degree are excluded. Further, by supporting selected primary contestants they disenfranchise others and divide rank-in-file Republicans. This cannot be allowed to continue.

Lahmeyer wrote, “I want to encourage you on Saturday to vote for these individuals, all of who I have known personally and know are MAGA through and through:

Cheryl Johnson for Tulsa County GOP State Committeewoman

Shelley Gwartney for Tulsa County GOP State Committeewoman

Katina Heath for Tulsa County GOP District Committeewoman

Jonathan Krems for Tulsa County GOP District Committeeman

For the other positions that I have not listed a candidate that is simply because I do not know personally those who are running. My suggestion is to vote for the outsider.”

This writer endorses Ron Causby for Chairman because he has gone on public record with a plan of action all Tulsa County Republicans may judge during his upcoming term.

Causby wrote, If elected I will audit ALL finances day one, new finance management policies, Finance Oversight Committee, Fundraising Committee, all financial data will be at HQ and remain there under my tenure, and will be open to Executive and County Committee members anytime. These committees are here to provide oversight, and every chairman should be held accountable to them.

I will also cap delegate fees. Why are we as delegates paying exorbitant delegate fees to conduct official party business, but we lost over $7k to pay for non-delegates/delegates to celebrate at a watch party last November. If you can make sense of that, I’ll listen.

We must provide the election board with Republican precinct officials for every precinct. We can’t uphold election integrity if we don’t have active and watchful Republicans working at every polling location in Tulsa County. I will discontinue the practice of using Party funds to operate a side business buying and re-selling Chinese goods. Any merchandise bought/sold by the Tulsa GOP will be made here in OK.

Regular Executive and County Committee meetings, along with weekly video updates informing Republicans of upcoming events, meetings, and ways to get more involved in our Party. I might have a surprise guest or two! Monthly countywide dinner/business-style County Committee meetings will be held, and new monthly GOP club meetings in every town in Tulsa County.

Precinct organization plan implemented with resources given to EVERY Precinct Chair, including the precinct officer list. How can the County Committee organize and provide oversight if they don’t know who the other committee members are? I also believe it is imperative to provide the Precinct Chairs with an organized leadership structure. Utilizing House District Chairmen to help provide leadership and support all the way down to the grass roots level, along with maps & zones, Data Center access and tech support to communicate effectively with precinct members.

A robust Grassroots Engagement plan will encompass precinct chairs meeting regularly with their elected officials, attend city council and school board meetings to be county “regulators” to hold them accountable and watch local politicians like hawks. This will give us a bench strength of future candidates for the next five to ten years.

Youth engagement starts with HS Republicans and College Republican groups being formed in every high school & college in Tulsa County. Internships. This is our future, and how we will fill ALL of our precinct chairs. Let’s invest in them!

Campaign Committee with experienced campaigners with winning records and GOTV experience. A Political Director that will return our Party to a winning tradition of a robust GOTV operation in 2024. Uitlizing phone banks, door knocking, mass messages, mail, signs, ads, social media ads, and Rallies. Better and proven strategy to win back all the local SB and CC races we have lost to the democrats in recent years.

I will never allow a BLM supporting consultant to run our campaigns or have access to all our data and tech. I just won’t.

I will keep the Tulsa County GOP out of Republican Primary elections PERIOD. Voter info, debates, candidate forums, and meet & greets. This way our local Republicans can meet, vet, and learn about candidates, can get informed, then THEY decide. Not a small, exclusive committee of insiders. We can’t continue to divide and shrink our Party.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to ideas, I have to move this Party to the future and back to the Grand Old Party it was when I was growing up.

I look forward to seeing you Saturday! If I haven’t called you yet, I will be in touch soon and would love to hear all of your ideas as well. Together we can build something special!

Thank you and have a blessed day!!! Ron Causby, Your Grassroots Candidate for Tulsa County GOP Chairman

The Republican Party of Tulsa County is important for the future of our community and nation, but we don’t need communist puppet masters.

See you at convention.

Greater local control: Marijuana Businesses

3/22/2023

Oklahoma’s cities and towns would have greater control over what marijuana businesses are allowed within their municipal limits thanks to legislation approved Wednesday in the Senate.

Senate Bill 801, by Sen. Bill Coleman, R-Ponca City, would allow municipalities to modify their standard planning and zoning procedures to determine or forbid certain zones or districts for the operation of new marijuana-licensed premises, medical marijuana businesses, or any other premises where marijuana or its by-products are cultivated, processed, stored, or manufactured starting Nov. 1, 2023.

“This measure will give back local control to municipalities. After State Question 788 passed, there was language that kind of muddied the waters as to what municipalities could or couldn’t do,” Coleman explained. “Senate Bill 801 clearly states that a city may zone for grow operations or dispensaries within their city limits as authorized by their city council. This grandfathers in any existing businesses but will permit communities in the future to zone for grows and dispensaries, if they choose to do so.”

SB 801 states that any marijuana business licensed prior to Nov. 1, 2023, will be able to continue operation until they are no longer licensed by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority.

“While this industry was widely approved by voters in 2018, we know there have been unintended consequences. Municipalities have realized there are issues that can best be addressed through zoning of these businesses,” Coleman said. “A fire in downtown Tonkawa in January that led to nearby businesses and residents having to evacuate is just one of many examples of issues municipalities must consider. Zoning will allow them to choose areas that are suitable and safe for these types of businesses and the rest of the community.”

The bill will next go to the House where Rep. T.J. Marti, R-Broken Arrow, is the principal House author.

National Prayer Call interrupted

3/21/2023

The Patriot Sentinel is reporting today that a National Prayer Call with President Donald Trump was shut down after President Trump joined the call.

Stevie Leff wrote, “Pastor Jackson Lahmeyer presented General Michael Flynn and Roger Stone as the call began, with these close associates of the President spoke about the period we are in and the wickedness that has engulfed this nation. Up until 7:15 p.m. Eastern, when President Trump joined the call, these were fantastic shares. General Michael Flynn and Roger Stone are known for their incredible military and political experience, faith and, unfortunately, being the victim of the deep state over the last seven years.

“Pastor Lahmeyer was then joined by Clay Clark, who presented President Trump. The President spoke for a while before abruptly becoming lost after a short while, and the call terminated after roughly 25 minutes. At this point, we don’t know what transpired during the call with President Trump or why the admins were disconnected from their typically dependable Internet. Call traffic, outside sabotage, or something else could have been the cause,” Leff continued.

“We are aware that the left is not concerned with the truth. They despise Donald Trump. There were also some worries that the attempt to pray for President Trump and the nation might have been thwarted by some nefarious individuals. Following the call, Pastor Lahmeyer revealed that he and Clay Clark [speaker and podcast host] had prayed for and with President Trump when they had phoned the President. After expressing his gratitude, President Trump urged them to pray for the nation,” the report concluded.

Deep State monitoring free people? Tolls hacking? Never in America don’t ya know.

A Washington Times report on Pastor Jack Lahmeyer’s organization, Pastors For Trump, notes the purpose of the coalition is “to help recognize the efforts of millions of Christians across the United States in the political process and to provide a way to advocate for issues central to the faithful including the importance of life, marriage, freedom of speech, and personal responsibility.”

Joy and wisdom in Dad Jokes

3/19/2023

Marc Hye-Knudsen for the British Psychological Society March 14 delves deep into the pedagogical value of a much-maligned art form asserting, “Dad jokes? That’s the way eye roll…

“It might seem tempting to simply dismiss dad jokes as bad jokes, at the same time accusing dads of just having a bad sense of humor, but that would be a mistake. When considered properly, dad jokes are an intricately multi-layered and fascinating phenomenon that reveals a lot not just about how humor and joke-telling work but also about fathers’ psychology and their relationships with their children. Dad jokes work on at least three levels: as puns, as anti-humor, and as a kind of weaponized anti-humor when dads use them to teasingly annoy and/or embarrass their children. It is in this last context that the link between dads and dad jokes is to be found…”

Hye-Knudsen after worldwide historical references suggests, “Dad jokes seem perfectly tailored to the modern father figure, a markedly softer and less domineering kind of patriarch than that of earlier eras. The dad in question has to be willing to embarrass himself – to play the fool – in order to vicariously embarrass his kids.

“By teasingly striking at their children’s egos and emotions without teetering over into bullying, fathers build their children’s resilience and train them to withstand minor attacks and bouts of negative emotion without getting worked up or acting out, teaching them impulse control and emotional regulation,” Hye-Knudsen wrote.

Finally, scientific justification with illumination. Dads everywhere are rejoicing and “to whoever stole my copy of Microsoft Office, I will find you. You have my Word!”
