
For my friends in Kansas.
If you visit the State Capitol I encourage you to go take a look at the large mural that dominates both walls at the beginning of the west wing.
There are a few things you might not notice at first glance of what is a truly beautiful piece of work:
- If you view the mural from the west looking back to the rotunda it appears to be a morning scene but vice versa and it appears to be evening. Incredible work by the artist.
- In the lower left hand side of the south wall there is a tiny family of skunks.
- If you then look at the cloud formation on the north wall you get a rather startling and very modern ‘symbolism’.
Long story on the mural and its financing that support item 2 and 3 possibly indicated what the artist thought of the politicians of the time. When I think of Lying Laura both 2 and 3 come to mind
