1487 - The 1st German Beer Purity Law is passed in Munich, stating that beer should be brewed from only 3 ingredients - water, malt, and hops

1876 - Archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann find the gold Mask of Agamemnon at Mycenae, the Mona Lisa of prehistory (pictured)

1982 - “Thriller” studio album by Michael Jackson is released

October 3rd, 1952: The United Kingdom officially becomes the world’s third nuclear power after testing a weapon in the Montebello Islands, Western Australia.

The Montebello Islands are now a park, though tourists are advised to limit visits to affected areas to a max of 1 hour per day. The area is also home to one of Australia’s best oil and natural gas drilling regions. The islands are also an important environment for several endangered species.

1963 - LBJ set up Warren Commission to investigate the assassination of JFK

1972 - Co-founder of Atari, Nolan Bushnell releases Pong, the 1st commercially successful video game

2019 - Wood fragment believed to be from Jesus’ manger returned to Bethlehem after 1400 years by Pope Francis
