What's even worse than an arrogant city council which bans commerce in an unlawful rebellion of state law; is a cowardly council which slow-walks a legal retailer's business permit.
Brad Peixotto paid his permit fee many weeks ago and has a business launch grand opening promotion set for January 15th. Problem is, the city council just keeps tabling the agenda item of approving his permit.
KTUL news in Tulsa detailed the struggle Mr. Peixotto is enduring and how the Collinsville City Council is deliberately stalling the approval of this established area businessman's proper submission for a common retailer permit.
Several city councils have landed in court for denying the permits of dispensaries, as state law requires. No city council has prevailed yet. Broken Arrow was the first city to be subjected to both an injunction and a clear ruling. They are seeking a Supreme Court decision.
Recently the city of Grove repealed several ordinances they had imposed on dispensaries and suffering patients. That change of course happened after 3 members of a special legislative study group came to Grove last week and explained the jeopardy the city was placing themselves in.
