A bit of April 9th history
1483 - Edward V (12 yrs old) succeeds his father Edward IV as king of England. He is never crowned, and is locked in the Tower of London with his brother Richard. They disappear - presumed murdered. Known as “The Princes in the Tower” (pictured)
1768 - John Hancock refuses to allow British customs agents to go below the deck of his ship. Considered 1st act of resistance to British authority in the colonies.
1784 - Great Britain ratifies the Treaty of Paris, signed Sept 3rd 1783, ending the Revolutionary War
1865 - General Robert E Lee & troops surrender at Appomattox Court House to Lt General Ulysses S Grant.
1912 - 1st exhibition baseball game at Fenway Park
2003 - Bagdad falls to US forces, ending the invasion of Iraq
