June 9th, 68: Roman Emperor Nero dies. He had been popular in his day, modern opinion of him is disastrous being largely influenced by accounts from his political enemies.

Popular legend had it that Nero didn’t truly died, and he would one day return. At least three people in history have pretended to be Nero reborn.
