Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau introduced new legislation this week that would impose a national “freeze” on the purchase of handguns throughout his country.

At the same time our neighbors to the north plan on decriminalizing cocaine for at least three years.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Monday that his government is introducing legislation to “implement national freeze on handgun ownership” throughout the country. 

“What this means is that it will no longer be possible to buy, sell, transfer or import handguns anywhere in Canada,” Trudeau said at a press conference. 

“We recognize that the vast majority of gun owners use them safely and in accordance with the law, but other than using firearms for sport shooting and hunting, there is no reason anyone in Canada should need guns in their everyday lives.”

Canadian Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino also said that a mandatory buyback program for “assault-style weapons” will go into effect later this year if the bill passes, calling it Canada’s “most significant action on gun violence in a generation.”

President Biden confused millions of Americans over the weekend when he claimed to be “appointed” to the US Naval Academy in 1965 for the first time.

“I was told the Class of ’72 is here. I was appointed to the academy in 1965 by a senator who I was running against in 1972 — never planned it that way. I wasn’t old enough to be sworn in. I was only 29 years old when I was running,” Biden said.

“He was a fine man. His name is J. Caleb Boggs,” the president explained. “I didn’t come to the academy because I wanted to be a football star. And you had a guy named [Roger] Staubach and [Joe] Bellino here. So I went to Delaware.”

“But all kidding aside,” Biden continued on Friday, “the best line of the debate was after it’s all over, the announcer, the questioner — who was a good guy, but supported my opponent, who was a good man as well, I might add — and he said, ‘Sen. Boggs, is there anything else you want to say?’ And he said, ‘Yes, just one thing.’ And he took the microphone. He said, ‘You know, Joe, if you accepted my commission to the — my appointment to the academy,’ he said, ‘you’d still have one year and three months’ active duty and I’d have no problems right now.’”

“I did not see that part of the speech,” later claimed the White House Press Secretary.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recorded and shared a special Memorial Day message for patriots who sacrificed their lives so we could pursue happiness. DeSantis, who served in the U.S. Navy, encourages a moment of reflection.

“I want to wish everybody a happy Memorial Day weekend, and I hope you enjoy yourselves,” the governor began. “And as you’re doing that, I hope that you take some time to reflect on the reason that we have Memorial Day,” he continued.

Ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) railed against an incoming Democrat gun control package on Tuesday; Jordan says he’ll “do everything he can to oppose it.”

“I’m going to do everything I can encourage my colleagues to oppose this… hodgepodge of bills that I don’t think would have made one difference in tragedies that we’ve seen recently,” Jordan, R-Ohio, told Fox News Digital. 

According to Fox News, “Jordan Tuesday said he believes Democrats are just taking advantage of recent tragedies to advance their agenda. Last week, a gunman killed 21 in a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school. Earlier this month, a man killed 10 people in a Buffalo supermarket in an attack that appeared to be racially motivated.”

“I think it’s just wrong to attack the Second Amendment liberties of law-abiding citizens, and that’s what these bills do,” Jordan said. “The answer is to make sure you have school facilities secured, and you have security officers who are trained and well-equipped to protect kids and teachers and the educational environment – not these various bills that they’ve piled into one hodgepodge package.”

“Democrats, their attitude is never let a crisis go to waste,” Jordan added. “They’re going to try to do their left-wing assault on the Constitution.”

Jordan took to Twitter to say “Taking away the guns of law abiding citizens is never the answer. Period.”

New York State will begin offering a third gender option for resident’s to choose on their driver’s licenses beginning June 24^th, allowing people to opt for ‘X’ instead of ‘Male’ and ‘Female.’

Governor Kathy Hochul announced the plan over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend.

“As we prepare to celebrate Pride Month in a few days, I am excited to announce this historic change that represents another victory in our fight to help ensure equality and respect for the LGBTQ+ community,” Governor Hochul said. 

“Every person, regardless of their gender identity or expression, deserves to have an identity document that reflects who they are. My administration remains committed to ensuring that New York is a place of value, love and belonging for members of the LGBTQ+ community,” Hochul said Friday in a news release.

“I’m proud to live in and represent a state that respects and values the needs of these communities – particularly as queer, and especially transgender young people, have come under attack in recent months across our country,” New York state Sen. Brad Hoylman, who sponsored the legislation, said Friday.

“Each and every New Yorker should be recognized for who they are by their government,” he said.

Joe Biden met with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern at the White House Tuesday, saying the United States needs “guidance” from the tiny nation to tackle issues like Climate Change and online extremism.

“We need your guidance. You understand that your leadership has taken on a critical role on this global stage, and it really has, galvanized action on climate change,” said the President.

A jury in Washignton, DC found Michael Sussmann -a lawyer for Hillary Clinton- not guilty of making false statements to the FBI.

The jury on Tuesday found Michael Sussmann not guilty of making a false statement to the FBI in September 2016 when he said he was not working on behalf of any client, when he brought information alleging a covert communications channel between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa Bank. 

After a two week trial, and more than a day of deliberations, the jury found that Special Counsel John Durham’s team had not proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Sussmann’s statement was a lie, and that he was, in fact, working on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and technology executive Rodney Joffe when he brought two thumb drives and a white paper alleging a Trump-Russia connection.

While we are disappointed in the outcome, we respect the jury’s decision and thank them for their service,” Durham said in a statement. “I also want to recognize and thank the investigators and the prosecution team for their dedicated efforts in seeking truth and justice in this case.” The jury included one federal government employee who told the judge they donated to Democrats in 2016 and another government employee who told the judge they “strongly” dislike former President Trump. The cost for a gallon of gasoline rose to $4.62 nationwide Tuesday, with motorists feeling even more pain at the pump in places like California, New York, Illinois, and Hawaii.

President Biden irked millions of Americans last week when he called record-high gas prices an “incredible transition” from fossil fuels.

His comments come as economists say the average American now has $9,000 less in savings than they did last year.

“When it comes to the gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition that’s taking place. God willing, when it’s over, we’ll be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over,” said Biden.
