The Cowboys are wrangling with college football’s blue bloods for a Top 100 prospect from the Lone Star State.
Brenen Thompson released his Top 6 on Saturday night: Oklahoma State, Clemson, Alabama, Texas, Oregon and Texas A&M.
A wide receiver from Spearman, Texas, Thompson is the No. 87 player in all of the 2022 class, making him the No. 11 receiver in the cycle and the No. 16 player from Texas. He would be OSU’s highest-rated receiver commit since Dez Bryant.
Thompson took an official visit to Stillwater on June 9 alongside a bevy of the Pokes’ 2022 commits, including quarterback Garret Rangel. Rangel said he is part of the movement to bring Thompson to Stillwater.
“I think our biggest guy right now is Brenen Thompson,” Rangel told PFB after the visit. “He’s really stinking good. He’s really fast.”
That speed Rangel speaks of is a big part to Thompson’s game. Also a track star, Thompson was a Texas 200-meter champion as a junior in May. He also won silver in the 100 meters.
