The Cowboys went up to Ann Abor and took down the Wolverines twice this weekend. (A third game was canceled because of weather.)
Oklahoma State’s 8-5 win on Sunday pushed the Cowboys’ win streak to seven games. OSU hasn’t lost since April 15.
It was slow and steady for the Cowboys early on Sunday … until the fifth inning. OSU score one run in the first, one in the second and one in the third before things really got rolling.
Zach Erhard started the Cowboys’ five-run fifth with a solo home run to left. It was his second home run of the year.
Later in the inning, Tyler Wulfert doubled up the middle to score Chase Adkison and Carson Benge. Wulfert would later score on a bases-loaded walk. That walk brought Erhard back up to the plate, where he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score another run.
Wulfert was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored on the day. During this winning streak, Wulfert is 17-for-29 (.586) at the plate with 10 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He’s on an absolute scorcher.
Ben Abram advanced to 6-2 on the season with his six-inning performance on the mound. He gave up four runs on seven hits while striking out nine. Isaac Stebens, out of Stillwater High, earned his fifth save on the year by coming in and recording the final out.
Up to 30-13 on the year, the Cowboys still have another week out of conference play upcoming. OSU travels to Oral Roberts on Tuesday before hosting East Tennessee State next weekend in a three-game series. The Cowboys get back into Big 12 play on May 12 when they start their series against Kansas State in Stillwater.
