Steve Lutz is working to fill out his first roster, and he’s doing a lot of that early work in the transfer portal.
Brendan Wenzel, the former Wyoming guard, narrowed his list of schools down to six this past week, and he’s scheduled visits to half of them, including OSU. He is set to visit Lutz and the Cowboys on Thursday before visiting TCU on Saturday and Texas Tech on April 26, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

He’s got enviable size for a wing, at 6-foot-7 and 212 pounds, and can shoot it from deep.
Wenzel spent two years at Utah where he redshirted and then played in two games in 2020-21 before transferring to Wyoming. With those Cowboys he saw the court much more often, starting 14 games his first year, 21 the next and 33 last season when he averaged 11.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and shot 38% from 3-point range. In 2022-23, Wenzel shot 41% from deep. He shot 36% from beyond the arc in 2021-22.
Lutz has been busy in the portal. OSU is set to host former Arkansas guard Davonte Davis and Drake transfer Kevin Overton included OSU in his Top 6 last week, as well.
