Watching the steep decline in ratings at Fox News since Tucker Carlsonâs abrupt resignation last week has filled me with admiration for my powers of prognostication: Iâve been predicting rain would come to the halls of Rupert Murdochâs âcontrolled oppositionâ network for quite some time and, now, the deluge has come.
As I wrote in May 2022 in my article âFox News is Headed for Disasterâ the clues were obvious: âItâs been perfectly clear that Fox News has been on a collision course with its own audience since the stolen 2020 election â and you can almost feel the impact coming. The network has made so many dumb bets lately that itâs like watching a busload of trailer park residents get offloaded to play the nickel slots in Reno. All you can do is shake your head as you think: I know theyâre all going bankrupt, and theyâre already bankrupt. Itâs been perfectly obvious for years now that Rupert Murdoch and his feckless sons turned against President Trump and actually helped Joe Biden â which is not just unforgivable. Itâs unsustainable.â

Foxâs cable ratings A.D. (After Death)
The divide that has now opened between Fox News and its audience in 2023 is so wide that you could drop the Grand Canyon into the breach and still have room for The Milky Way.
Just go down the list of important issues facing GOP voters in America right now. What is the official position of the Murdoch family on vaccine mandates, Donald Trumpâs 2024 campaign, the criminality of the Biden regime, election fraud, the safety of the COVID slot shots, and the Ukraine war?
The Australian liberals who own Fox News are on the wrong side of all of them â with the exception of the Southern border.
Just last year, for instance, I helped to break the story that Fox News took money from the Biden regime to push COVID vaccine propaganda on their network relentlessly. Fox News did not reveal this crucial fact to its audience â an astonishing breach of journalistic ethics that should never be forgiven or forgotten.
I said at the time that these corporate media outlets were headed for disaster because they helped to kill their own audience by pushing these dangerous and untested vaccines for money. I called it âthe greatest scandal in the history of modern journalismâ â and it was only just beginning last year. In fact, I said that âitâs the hidden iceberg floating just beneath the surface of American politics right now.â
In November of 2022, I explained how the over-the-hill media mogul Rupert Murdoch was taking on President Trump directly â and how that would be the end of Fox News:
âThe problem for the 91 year-old Murdoch is that, outside the halls of News Corp, most Americans were unaware that he was still alive and eating solid food. He still fancies himself to be the dominant force in conservative media, but is that really true? The credibility of Fox News was fatally damaged by its early Arizona call for Biden in the 2020 election â damage which Murdoch has apparently acknowledged. Some of Murdochâs kids are Clinton staff-level shitlibs pretending to be âdisinformation commissarsâ at the Aspen Institute. The elder Murdoch chose Tony Blair as the godfather to one of his own kids by an alleged Chinese communist spyâ and what makes that absurd decision even more embarrassing is that Tony Blair was doing the business with Murdochâs wife.â
âMurdoch and his family line have become cosmopolitan neoliberal grifters. Their political opinions are quoted with approval by woke outlets like Vanity Fair â but thatâs not exactly the GOPâs key demographic. Their executives in New York have pronouns in their bios. They place uniparty swamp creatures like Paul Ryan on the board of directors for Fox News â even though heâs now working part-time for the Clintons at Teneo. They hire famous male athletes dressed in drag, and then stick them on Sean Hannityâs show to queer up Fox News. The Murdochs are playing a game of high-stakes chicken with their media empireâs audience.â
Thatâs why Fox News has lost nearly 50% of its total viewers in one week. Just look at these âdemo ratingsâ impacting all shows:
The Five (-7%)
Special Report (-23%)
Watters (-35%)
Tucker (-69%)
Sean Hannity (-44%)
Laura Ingraham (-20%)
Like I said: three years of bad bets by Rupert Murdoch have finally come due.
An epic fight between Foxâs corporate attorneys and Carlsonâs lawyers on the small matter of Carlsonâs contract payout now looms â with the Murdochs reportedly determined to keep Tucker well-paid and silent through the 2024 election cycle.
Meanwhile, ex-Fox anchor Megyn Kelly has explained exactly how Fox News is trying to smear their former top anchor by leaking old show outtakes to left-wing outlets like Media Matters: âThey are trying to destroy him. And itâs very obvious. And this is â Iâve been through this myself. Itâs not enough that you part ways with the company. They want to destroy you. They want to ruin your career and your employability. Itâs absolutely disgusting. Not every industry does this, you guys. Just ours. Just, like, media, and in particular, cable news and broadcast news. Trust me on that. Today, thereâs a new piece, thereâs one in the Wall Street Journal, of course, thatâs owned by the same parent company as Fox News.â
Things are about to get very ugly very fast â and the obvious losers are the Murdochs at last.
