President Trump’s Attorney General Bill Barr has been trying to rehabilitate his tarnished reputation in the last month with regular guest appearances on Fox News as he hawks his new book. The mendacity on display has been breathtaking. Never have so many lies been told on television for the sake of selling a bad memoir by an unreliable narrator. Fox News is happy to encourage Barr’s rewriting of history now because Fox News wants the history to be rewritten: both of them got caught colluding with Democrats to throw the election to Joe Biden in 2020 — and nobody trusts them anymore. It’s a perfect marriage of convenience for these grifters.
The problem with Bill Barr’s version of events regarding the laptop is clear to anyone who owns a calendar. Allow me to summarize it in simple terms. Who was the Attorney General when the FBI obtained Hunter Biden’s laptop in 2019, and thus who allowed the FBI to hide it from the public in order to help Joe Biden before the 2020 election? Bill Barr.
That’s not a question that anyone is going to ask Bill Barr at the lefty outlets where he likes to puff himself these days. Of course, there are plenty of contenders for Bill Barr’s least favorite question. Here’s another one: who was the Attorney General when the FBI fabricated an entire militia group for the Governor Whitmer kidnapping hoax that was used to hurt President Trump before the 2020 election?
You guessed it: Bill Barr.
Barr did a show recently with Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade where he said that the public letter signed by 51 national security officials claiming that Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation was itself a kind of election interference. Barr’s displeasure here is the epitome of “a day late and a dollar short.”
Let’s turn back the clock and fact-check him. What did AG Bill Barr actually do at the time this letter appeared in 2020? He did nothing. He could have publicly condemned the letter and its signers. He could have announced that the Hunter Biden laptop was authentic. He could have launched an investigation. Instead, he did nothing.
The reason that Bill Barr did nothing is not difficult to decipher. He did not want President Trump to be re-elected, and so he helped Joe Biden. This is one of those obvious truths that’s hiding in plain sight. Here’s the great Rudy Giuliani on my new show The Absolute Truth explaining what Bill Barr actually did during the Trump Administration.
Giuliani was unsparing in his assessment of Bill Barr’s character on my show: “The FBI first had access to this information [ i.e. the Hunter Biden laptop] for two and a half years. It deliberately covered it up for a year and a half — and so did phony [Bill] Barr who is making a pathetic fool of himself now. He held back that hard drive for a year and a half when it would have completely cleared the President of the United States. There never would have been an impeachment. He should be ashamed of himself, and he should give up his license to practice law.”
Bill Barr Hates Trump
One thing Bill Barr is very open about now is his disdain for President Trump. He even slouched into the couch on Greg Gutfeld’s show to laugh at the President’s notion of seeking re-election. You see Bill Barr — who’s never been elected to anything — is just a much better politician than Donald Trump by his own estimation. But why be modest? Barr wants the world to know that he’s really a much smarter fighter, politically, than Donald Trump because he punched a guy once in college. (That’s not a typo — watch the video.) Only amateurs like Trump fight back immediately, you understand, while pros like Bill Barr always say “not to fight right away” because “everybody would hold you back” and “the game would never be played.”
If we apply Barr’s analogy to actual events then what he’s saying is patently absurd: Barr wants you to believe that he helped Democrats by ignoring Hunter Biden’s laptop, and Zuckerberg’s massive “private election” scheme, because in the end he’s really helping Trump! Don’t you see? It’s the long game. That’s why he can convince liberals like attorney Jonathan Turley that we really owe Bill Barr congratulations on launching phantom investigations led by John Durham that will arrest peripheral Clinton operatives five years after the fact.
Again, I’m not making this up. Do-nothing Barr wants credit for the do-nothing Durham investigation!
This transparent nonsense has a home at Fox News because Bill Barr wants the same things that Fox News wants right now: they both yearn for respect from Democrats for helping to prevent the second Trump Administration (wink, wink) while at the same time yearning to retain the respect of GOP voters who they deceived in 2020. After all: if GOP voters hate your guts, it’s pretty hard to pretend to be a conservative news network — or a conservative attorney general — for very long.
Barr Flip-Flops on Election Fraud
It’s the same story when you ask Bill Barr about election fraud in 2020. He likes to tell outlets like left-wing Business Insider that Trump didn’t lose due to cheating —but because Biden got more votes. Never mind that even Democrat voters think that election fraud was rampant in 2020 (as recent polling shows). The problem with Barr’s version of reality is that we have a public letter from (then) U.S. Attorney William McSwain claiming that Barr blocked him from investigating voter fraud in Pennsylvania during the election:
"On Election Day and afterwards, our Office received various allegations of voter fraud and election irregularities," the letter said. "As part of my responsibilities as U.S. Attorney, I wanted to be transparent with the public and, of course, investigate fully any allegations. Attorney General Barr, however, instructed me not to make any public statements or put out any press releases regarding possible election irregularities. I was also given a directive to pass along serious allegations to the State Attorney General for investigation — the same State Attorney General who had already declared that you [Trump] could not win."
Meanwhile, Barr has no problem in 2022 claiming that — sure, of course! —election fraud was a real thing in 2020. He will even admit that he’s “not sure” whether Mark Zuckerberg’s private election infrastructure scheme (which is really just old-fashioned bribery of public election officials) is illegal or not.
Really? It may be legal for tech oligarchs to overwhelm public elections in America by building a parallel system run by Antifa activists in swing states? (Well, so much for democracy!) It’s disqualifying for any Republican attorney general to hold such views obviously. So much for Barr’s expertise in election law.
The “Suicide” of Jeffrey Epstein
One does not have to be a fan of President Trump either to find Bill Barr’s job as Attorney General a complete failure. Who was the Attorney General when Jeffrey Epstein (supposedly) committed suicide in a maximum security federal prison? Bill Barr. You remember that worldwide scandal, don’t you? Epstein’s death conveniently occurred before he could testify in open court about the identity of his clients— who remain some of the most powerful people in the world.
Who was the Attorney General when the FBI raided Epstein’s New York townhouse and confiscated the videos that Epstein made? Bill Barr. That evidence has never been used to indict or arrest anyone to my knowledge. How can anyone explain the disappearance of so much evidence? The death of Jeffrey Epstein appears to be exactly what it is: an obvious cover-up by the DOJ. (Bill Barr prefers to call it “a massive storm of screw-ups.”) The guards who “fell asleep” while protecting Epstein were given community service — in case you’re wondering how seriously the U.S. federal government took Epstein’s “suicide” in federal detention.
